VERY nice Bill. Your last photo is an insect that doesn't show up much on boards like this. It's a webspinner, in the order Embioptera. They're usually highly gregarious and live together in silken tunnels. The enlarged foreleg shown in your photo is where the silk glands are.

Did you see a lot of them at the same time?

They are a tropical/subtropical group, and are found across the globe. In the US, they are strictly southern, and I think three species are found in Southern California. But they're not at all common.

Thank you for the compliment and the info. I have only seen this one. Very jittery. Was only able to take two shots. This was the best one, and its not great. Bill
