I would keep my 100x400 Canon L lens. I do lots of bird and other wild life photography and I like doing non posed shots of people, which this lens is essential for. I also do macro photography of flowers and such, and this lens works for that. I can do a little landscape photography with it, especially on my full frame camera, but that is where it is limited. This lens also is fairly sharp.

Bird photo comprises the largest park of my shooting. So I appreciate great bird photos like yours when I see them. Being a bird watcher, I am letting you know that the swallow is a Barn Swallow and not a Cliff Swallow. The cliff Swallow will have the large white spot on its forehead instead of the chestnut colored one. Keep up the good work. Terry

I am impressed. I bought a SX50 over two years ago. I think I have used it briefly only two times. I got it to take to places like when I go kayaking or on long hikes. Haven't really done any of that lately so I continue to learn my Canon 6D with my L lenses. Looks like you are getting as good of shots with your camera as I do with mine with a 1001x400 lens. Keep it up.

I went to the North Rim and southern utah the first week of October in 1996. The weather was perfect and the Aspen were in prime colors. I went the first week of October last year to the South Rim and up into Zion. There are very few aspen on the South Rim but again. Zion and South Utah was great. This time I was surprised at the number of visitors at both places. Again, the weather was perfect. You are probably locked in to a September date but if not make it the very end of September or the first days in October.

wolfiebear, I moved back to Oregon five years ago after spending 13 years on the front range of Colorado.I really liked it out there. At your elevation, sounds like the Leadville area which I visited on several occasions. I can identify with how you must feel. I got my first Digital SLR three years ago. My first lens was the heavy 100x400 L lens, which I love. I takes just a little getting used to but I now carry it for hours at a time. I am more "electrically challenged" than anyone I know. I had to learn my Canon 60D then later my 6D. I still haven't scratched the surface on all it can do,but I have already sold photos. Then I thought I could never learn my Lightroom editing program but have gotten the most important parts of it down and look forward to it now. I am sure you will learn your camera and get used to its size if you don't give up. If for some reason you can't deal with the size you could resale it and get the 6D which is smaller in size but is also a full framed model. You might think about attending a camera club in Denver a time or two and asking to see, feel and learn from other members about which lens or lenses you might want. You have gotten a lot of advise here and I am sure a beautiful woman like yourself, will get plenty of help where ever you go. Stay patient, have fun and the results will come, Terry.

Thanks so much for taking time to reply to my issue. I am sorry it took awhile to get back to you. First of all, I don't check my mail everyday. Secondly, it took awhile before I had to admit I still did not understand what to do.

I have learned a couple of things in my old age, (65). One is that I am electronically challenged. This includes my cameras, computers, my VCR and my Lightroom program, to name a few. The second thing is I have difficulty with written instructions. I am a "hands on" type of learner.

When you spoke about moving folders, I am not even sure what counts in the definition of folder. I think I was correct in calling my problem area the catalog. What I was referring to is what is on the left side of the Lightroom screen when it is on "Library" mode. On my set up I have only dates. Dates that were once in order from oldest to most recent. Would these be the folders you spoke of or did you have something else in mind?

Not knowing for sure I have been hesitant to try what I am only guessing you suggested. When this happened to me the first time I had someone try to do what I think you were suggesting. He was a long time user of Lightroom and pretty competent on most of it. He made the problem worse and it cost me fifty dollars to have this area's expert consultant fix it. It happened to me a second time and it cost me forty dollars to have him straighten it out. I don't have the money to keep doing that. He charges fifty an hour so it was not a quick fix as I watched him. I need to learn how to do it myself. I also need to figure out what I am doing to cause such problems. The bright side is, I have gotten pretty good at doing the editing part of Lightroom in the past several month. I am enjoying it overall. However, I would like to figure out this date thing. If you are still willing to help, I would appreciate it. Thanks again, Terry in Oregon.

I some how accidently moved my October and November photos in the date catalog. They are now in between the March and April section. All new imports are still going there also. How do I straighten this out?

I bought a 60D, probably not a lot different from you 50D two years ago. Bought to 6D last month. I can't really notice any size or weight difference. I miss the built in flash and sometimes the flip up turn around screen. Most of all I miss the additional magnification the crop sensor gives you. However, I love the fact I can blow up photos more without losing resolution. I also can up the ISO so I can increase the shutter speed and still avoid noise.

I recently bought the pixama pro-100. Does the precision color company products work on my new printer.

I have a Canon 60D and bought some backup batteries for it called Digipower. They worked as well as the Canon brand. Recently I bought a new 6D and Digipower batteries will not work in the new camera.

I am 64 and got a nice SLR camera and some quality lenses two years ago. If you want snap shots with today's digital cameras it is not hard to do. If you want quality photos that you and others will be thrilled to see, that's another story. There is quite a learning curve involved. The videos on line can be helpful. There is your manual and tons of photography books for sale. However, I find hands on learning works best for me. Perhaps there is a camera club in your area where you can begin to meet other photo bugs. Many of folks are good about sharing their knowledge. Don't get discouraged, like I sometimes do, and have fun with it.

Have lived in Oregon most of my 64 years and traveled it extensively. May is a peak month for flowers in Western Oregon. May is also a transition month weatherwise. There are some mild sunny days and some rainy days. The coast is the wettest and the northwestern corner of the state second most likely to see some rain. Sounds like you have gotten a lot of good suggestions, ones I agree with. If you should need someone to listen to your preferences or detailed questions and give you more detailed information I would be pleased to do this over the phone. Either way, have a great trip. Terry.

Pam, welcome to UHH. We are almost neighbors. I live over the hill in Applegate, about 20 miles south of Grants Pass. Nice to see a fellow Oregonian. Hoping to get over to the your coast again soon.

Kuzano, I appreciated your post and agree with your comments. I am not that regular on here any more. Part of the reason being that there is too much, "know it all" and "I am better than you" attitudes.
I live in Western Oregon and enjoy you side of the state. It would be a pleasure to meet up with you some time. Thanks again,Terry
