I am buying a new high end camera. I am deciding which one. I was told if I buy the new camera I can purchasing the Canon printer pro-100.
the cost is normally $400.00 and when you buy a new Canon camera.
THERE IS A $400.00 REBATE on the printer, Even if you buy an other brand the rebate is $300.00.
My question is does anyone have any fee back on that printer?
It sounds like a good deal to me. Let me know. Coinman

I have an earlier model and it has been WONderful. It's still working perfectlyeven though I use remanufactured ink cartridges exclusively. Like an earlier post, I am in love with camera gear and therefor couldn't stand passing up a new one for 99 bux, especially when you get a 50 pack of very nice 13x19 luster paper free. That makes the whole package Canon's present to us all.

I got the $400 Pro-100 with the $300 rebate. Great printer, although I haven't hooked it up to work wirelessly.

The PIXMA pro-100 is a great printer. The first time I printed a 13x19 I was stunned. That 1st print is hanging in my living room.
Don't be skeptical about the price/rebate "too good to be true" feeling. Canon will more than make up for giving away the printer when you buy a few rounds of ink. Ink for any of these prosumer printers is shockingly expensive.
Buy it...you won't be sorry (until you have to buy ink) :)

BTW
Printing your own may NOT be cheaper than having it done at a lab.

Two reports at the Camera Club this Friday regarding the Pro-100 were very positive. Mine is still boxed up and I am keeping up my search for CIS to bring printing costs. I was surprised by how rapidly the rebate came!

The Magazine c't Digital Photography did a rundown on all the new large format, A3, printers. As I recall, all of these printers were excellent. Warning... this magazine gets really technical and through in it coverage, excellent.

Fall #13 a back issue covers these printers.

Right! When rebate is that large, I worry. I actually bought two of those, a couple of months apart. For $99, it was hard to resist, and I like the network feature.

A few years ago, there was a site that offered a 100% rebate on all its products. All you had to pay was the shipping. The catch? The shipping was unusually high. I bought a few items that I thought were worth the shipping price, and I got my rebates. The site closed down shortly after that. I'm sure a lot of people got stuck without their rebates.

If you find a CIS for the Pro-100, please let us know.

I took the plunge in December. Bought to PRO-100 for $400 with a $300 rebate. The rebate came in the form of a cash value debit card from Chase. The printer has performed beyond my expectations. Only down side is that it's VERY large. I used the rebate to purchase ink.

Back in 2010 I purchased my T2i kit camera and got the $400 rebate deal on the previous model of Canon printer - the Pixma Pro 9000. I'm guessing that about the only difference is that the newer model is wireless, which is a very nice feature. I have my printer sitting on the dining room table along with my computer and it takes up a lot of space. Don't be leery about the rebate. Canon has this deal going with most if not all of its authorized dealers. Back when I got mine the camera shop also had a no tax deal going. So I got my camera package, a few accessories and the printer for the sticker price and not tax. Then I mailed in the rebate form and a few weeks got the $400 back. So the printer was literally free.

The reason you can't buy a CIS or 'remanufactured' set of inks for this printer is that noone has so far been able (or willing) to replicate the chip that Canon puts in the cartridge to ... well, keep people from selling 'compatible' ink. The difference between my Pro9000 and the Pro1 is that the red and green in the 9000 is changed to gray and light gray. This, they say, improves the look of B&W prints.0

Thus there are only two options for non-OEM ink: 1) Refill kits of just the ink which require a 'chip resetter' developed in Germany and sold by a Chinese company that's based in Britain (our modern world-wide economy is marvelous, no?)(http://www.octoink.co.uk/products/CLI%252d42-Chip-Resetter-for-Canon-Pro%252d100.html) 2) A CIS that has new cartridges into which you somehow transfer the chips from the Canon ones( Chinese company, and in China). I have tried the refilling option and I'm getting too un-coordinated to do it without spilling; Only God knows how I'd mess up transferring the chips. Never mind, I'm going to try it because I simply can't (or won't) afford Canon inks.
I'm still investigating and am hot on the trail of some other possibilities, but as it's Sunday (wish I were in Oz today!) that must wait until tomorrow.
