Absolutely love the fourth one down of Half Dome --- the one with the great puffy clouds.

Thank you. I have to settle for the "tourist snap-shot" locations because I am disabled. But, I can be patient and wait for the light to do "magic" on the stone to create some interesting photos. Looking forward to our next trip when we are planning to explore Tioga Pass Road. I will post more photos then.

Thank you for your comments everyone. I am planning another trip there as soon as Tioga Pass opens. It is one section of the park that I have never visited in 22 years of living here in the valley.

This shot really puzzles me. If you notice the tree on the left, in the foreground, is in relatively decent focus, and half dome, in the background is in good focus. The tree on the right, however, which is in between the two is way out of focus. Any explanations?

Hmmmm.... that obviously is not the problem then. Sorry I couldn't help. You might want to post the shot in the analysis forum asking specifically about the noise problem. Maybe someone there can answer your question. Good luck.

Thank you. I used a 300mm lens on a tripod and aperture of 5.6 for this shot.

These are some photos that I took the other day while at our local zoo. Critiques and suggestions are welcome.

The second one is a more balanced picture in my estimation. For some reason the first two have a lot of noise the sky, which I have seen in some of your other photos. You might want to try experimenting with some of the different setting on your camera, to see if you can eliminate the noise.

Mike

What settings might be causing the noise?

In my manual for my Canon Rebel t3 it says that high ISO settings will cause excess noise. Try limiting the max auto ISO setting.
Also, the second photo is by far the best in my opinion.

Do you have a shot of the B-36 showing the back of the wing & the props?

Thanks!

No, unfortunately I was with a group and they were getting impatient. I could have spent a whole day shooting there if I had been alone.

Actually it is in the wrong forum...

As to your question what is best to print? There is no answer to that, at all. If you 'enhanced' the pic according to your display and the display is not calibrated you will likely be sorely disappointed, the result being too dark or too light.

There are a couple of threads on that subject and it all comes to an image being 'adjusted/enhanced' for a skewed display.

I posted a topic about this... http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-29990-1.html#461637

One question: Is anything ever in the right forum for your taste? This is the only thing we ever hear from you.

This person asked for an opinion or advice about the photographs posted here. A simple explanation of the pros and cons of each sample would be courteous and sufficient. :-)

What squadron were you with? My older brother was also stationed there with VA-115 at that time. Back to appropriate subject matter: I am planning a trip back to Seal Beach very soon. I am told that the pups are being born at about this time.
Any suggestions from wildlife photographers would be appreciated.

Hello Stosh and Welcome to the UHH!
During the time I was stationed at Lemoore NAS(1970-72 when not deployed at sea) I often visited the coast. Always loved the coast. Last visit was 2009-- Davenport and Bonny Doone that time and Monterey Bay.
I'm certainly not the expert, so I'll leave the critique to the masters. Keep posting--I'll keep looking.
