Hope in in the right Topic.

I want to print one. One is computer enhanced and one isn't. Which one is better for printing?

I prefer the "enhanced". But I do like the harmony of colors in the "not".

Good day!
Beautiful shot! Composition, sharpness and nicely blurred background! Beautiful pictures...both!
The question for me is...what are you printing them for? If for yourself and you like #1 then that is good! :-) If you are printing for competition then I would go for the more natural colours.. (Chipping sparrow?) Either way I do love them both! Great job!

That's an American Tree Sparrow, actually. You seem to have lost some detail in the shadows of the enhanced version. The unenhanced photo doesn't seem like it would need much. Perhaps some clarity adjustment to improve mid-tone contrast, some sharpening and noise reduction. In the end, either will print well. Now it's your choice! BTW that is a very nice photo. Well composed, too.

thank you.
I wanted a copy for myself. But now I'm looking and I can see it's slighty out of focus, isn't it? Maybe I picked the wrong pic. It seems I had a more focused one.

And yes...American Tree Sparrow.

Thanks for you help and comments!

I would go with the first one. While the second does have more detail in the shadows the first one's color is more correct.

I definitely like the enhanced version better.
The colors are more vibrant and make the bird stand out in the photo. Some may think enhancement is "cheating", but in the days before graphics editors, we used to retouch photos in the lab which in my opinion is the same thing.

It looks like a choice of a good makeup job vs. natural beauty. The enhansed version catches the eye the way a highschool yearbook photo does, but the 'not' tends to draw you in to see what is so special about this little bird. Either one will make a good print.

If the camera captured the correct colors how can you improve on Mother Nature?

Actually it is in the wrong forum...

As to your question what is best to print? There is no answer to that, at all. If you 'enhanced' the pic according to your display and the display is not calibrated you will likely be sorely disappointed, the result being too dark or too light.

There are a couple of threads on that subject and it all comes to an image being 'adjusted/enhanced' for a skewed display.

I posted a topic about this... http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-29990-1.html#461637
