I recently returned from a trip with several hundred photos taken via 4 different sources. One source was my D750 wherein I used 2 SD cards (I consider this to be 2 sources), another source was a Sony RX100 II, and the other source was a android cell phone. The shots taken with the camera's were all in RAW. I want to arrange the keeper shots from these 4 sources in chronological order and put on a thumb drive for future viewing. I use LR6.14. I also have the following plugins: Luminar Neo, Topaz Photo AI, and ON1 Effects 2023. Would someone please enlighten me as to how to go about doing this? Thank you.

ACDSEE work great. Drag and drop where you want them then Bulk rename and number. A mouse click away from your slide show.

I've been asked many times how did I get so good at photography. My reply is , " I have thrown more images in the waste basket then you have ever taken. Learn by your mistakes. NEVER give up. If you get 1 in a hundred, be happy. Soon it'll be 10 in a 100. Then 90 in a hundred. I learned more from my bad images then I learned from my good images.

Actually filling the frame is kind of weird, as few folks are able to shoot straight in the first place... Just the action of straightening a capture will force a crop. You also have to take into account that some capture maybe framed with a mat, another case when there must be a 'free space' around the subject.

Add the idea of motion, space and 'fill-the-frame' mantra is just out of the window,

The idea with 'filling the frame is not to be to the edge but making sure that the subject is complete within the frame and that there is no need to crop in order to be 'closer'.

I fill the frame ONLY when I am sure of what I am doing while shooting, usually a static subject and that the capture will not be framed. Since I produce only aluminum print, large format cropping for a frame does not happen.

Assuming the subject/scene isn't changing quickly and you could go with either faster or slower shutter (adjusting aperture and ISO to compensate and maintain exposure), do you usually go for faster shutter speed or slower?

Any pros and cons on doing it one way vs the other?

What do you want to capture. Take a waterfall. Fast shutter = water drops frozen in time. Slow shutter water a creamy flow of water. Plus the benefits of changing depth of field. Truly, a better understanding of the relationship between aperture and shutter will greatly improve your creativity.

I see the shot in my head. View in the finder to confirm and push the button. Once I get the money shot I start to push the envelope. I've surprised myself many times. The more I shoot the more I see. Watch your subjects reactions in that environment to give you additional ideas.

I fully understand your position. Maybe we should have a separate section for pro's to eliminate some of the weird stuff I see on this site from photo demigods for not understanding what it takes in the real world rather than sitting in a blind waiting for the right bird to come by.

For years I have been using the simple editor my PCs came with.
Now it may be time to graduate to something more powerful.

With the multipicity of various softwares, what would be a good place to start?

I am looking for general sharpening, perhaps changing from color to sepia, B&W, etc.; changing the perspective in architecture, replacing skies, darkening, brightening, removing undesirable objects, changing contrast, etc.

Thanks

ACDSee. Easy program to use. Will do all that you want to do.

The pictures are in various file folders i.e. 2008-12-25 Christmas, 1984-05-15 Vacation in Door County, etc.

My idea is to copy selected pictures from each folder into a "sort" folder that allows me arrange the pictures to better tell the story. I have quite a number of folders to view and select the most "important" pictures. When the selection process is finished, then I can rename the pictures' file names.

Also if the sort folder allows post processing of a picture by another program i.e. RAW to JPG saving in the sorted place that would be a plus.

That is exactly what ACDSee can do easily. Drag images to your image basket and this program will automatically made them a copy. NO extra step. Original's stay in their folders. Save to the folder set up for your sorting.

Happy Wednesday

Seeking a program to select random pictures, copy each into a new folder, and arrange into a new sort order without changing their file name. Once into the new folder, arrange and into my selected sequence/order.

Your ideas pls.

ACDSee - You can save all your images into a saved basket. These are all copies, the originals are safe in the other folders. Open saved folder and put them in order by drag and drop. Now batch renumber them with a 2, 3 or 4 digit number in from of the original name. I use this for slide shows all the time. So easy and fast. Never lose an image.

OMG!! You have no idea how much I cringe looking at "pro's " images advertising their services. Flat lighting, ring lights killing the color of the eyes and a whole soap box of other things where they could have made a much better image. Smile, good exposure, all done. High class point and shoot.

Yes, I get that notice. PS needs 8GB GPU. I'm upgrading now. Easy to install. Just remember to delete the old driver.

I live in New Braunfels. Not las Vegas, but Landa park and around the old downtown. A lot of different images for your image making.
