Does the "Green Flash" really exist? We are heading out on a cruise in the Pacific. Should I spend every sunset waiting for something that does not really exist? But what an excuse to just set up the camera and feel those warm ocean breezes!
They do exist. I have watched for them for a lot of years and finally got this shot last summer. http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-146525-1.html
Not the best shot, but I did get it!
First time Iv'e ever caught this little guy.
They are only 4.5 in long (about like a humming bird)
This is a male, you can tell by the eyes ( males are dark and females are light)

That explains it!!! Wish people would leave wild life alone bless they are 1000000% sure human intervention is needed. People here are notorious for. "rescuing" turtles.....most of them merely journeying to the nearest water supply.
Great picture, never thought they'd eat pumpkin.
From what I was told they have even been known to go into farmers fields to eat pumpkins. I guess even vultures need there veggies :-)

Is that bird banded?? Are vultures in short supply there? I'll be happy to ship some of ours!!
Yes she is banded. She is in an avairy at the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport Or. Her and her brother were removed from the nest in Mn by a couple of uninformed people who thought they were helping  and took them to a rescue facility. They were to imprinted to humans to be returned to the wild.

This is awesome! I am so jealous. I've watched the sunset all over the world from the South China Sea to The Indian Ocean. I live on Cape Cod and am always looking for the green flash over the Atlantic. My husband is convinced that it's something I've made up ( in spite if what Google says). Where did you take this amazing shot?
Thank you and everyone else for your kind comments.
All the web sites say you need clear sky all the way to the horizon but if you look close you can see that this flash is above or through a cloud bank. I guess sometimes we get lucky or the experts don't know everything.
The pic was taken in Seaside Or.
Now I'm hooked. I'll probably spend the rest of my life trying for a better one! O'well, a camera, sunsets, and hope. t could be worse :-)
Here's a second shot, notice all the blue in it.
Not the best pic, but I finally got a shot of it! :-D
