Thanks for the compliment, it's been awhile since I did these and I never wrote down time intervals, but I think I shot 30sec intervals. To blend I used PaintShop Pro X6, adding one layer at a time using the different blend modes.

Geoff,

Looks like classic IR to me. What difference do the IR emitters make? I thought most cameras just used them as a focusing aid. Maybe a few A-B comparisons with IR emitters covered and uncovered with the same subject/conditions are in order so we can see the difference.

Keep 'em coming,

Eric

Hi Eric, the IR emitters are not necessary for day time shooting and as Bob said they cause flare when an external filter is used, but they are necessary if you're are shooting in total darkness, no light no image. These emitters that are blocked only work in night shooting, there are others for focusing.

Off again to try several filters with the NX10 @ Alberta Information Center Close to the B.C. Border

The first with the NX10 665nm - where in the heck did all that YELLOW come from???

The second from the B+W 403 BUT had a Hot Mirror Filter on the Lens & WB taken from the 403 - the "YELLOWS" befuddle me

The third from a Kolarivision 720nm Filter - MORE Normal - or is that just me  :D :-D

Love the third one, not so much the other two.

Shot these today, without an added external IR filter, was in shadow so I just flipped the Sony(DSC F717) into night vision to see what the result would be. I have the infra red emitters covered over with a couple of layers of black vinyl tape. It seems if the camera is in enough shade or indoors I don't have to bother with an IR filter.

Thanks for starting your thread. I just got into IR about a year ago someone gave me a Minolto Dimage 7 that was converted to shoot IR. Later had my old Canon 20D converted to 665 IR
cost me $225.00 to have it done. I've been having a blast ever since. Here are some of my Favorites.

These are all very beautiful

Geoff, I like your indoor shots--no favorite--they're all good.

Some more flowers I took this evening.

Took these in my local supermarket in night shooting mode but without an external IR filter, don't really have to use an external indoors if there is enough light.

Geoff,

That period museum looks like a gold mine of imagery.

Color is what speaks to you, I've seen some folks leave their images all red too. It looks like you could convert to B&W too if you wanted.

Eric

Hi Eric
Most of the images that I've worked on in the green colour I also have in B+W, all my most recent photos have been converted to B+W, but I adjust them so it's a warm B+W almost bordering on sepia in some cases. I have seen some images that are left in red but I find them a little hard on the eyes the green is easier I think.

These are taken with the 950nm filter, the first one I added some colour, the others I didn't convert but just played with brightness/contrast and level adjustments. I sort of like the green look.

Have you tried the Super Blue 47B filter on your camera? It does most of the false color in camera and just needs minimal tweaking on the computer. Elements 9 lets me convert those images to B&W too. On my next photo outing I may switch back to the Red 29 filter on the IS-1 and just go for B&W just to change things up a bit.

Eric

These are lovely, can't decide which I like more with these, colour or B+W

I thought I would break out the tripod and try some IR macro.

Both false color and B&W. Not the best venue for false color but I think the B&W really pops!

Eric

I think the B+W and the false colour work equally well, I like them both.

I like these, the backrounds don't overshadow the flower, I especially like the first one, it looks very much like a painting. The third one also is very painterly, but I like the way the backround colours in the first one blend together more.
