I don't know anything about running CS5 on windows 8 but since your buying a new computer pre-installed with windows 8 I read something I don't remember where but you have downgrade rights to a similar version of Windows 8, for example you could downgrade from Windows 8 Pro to Windows 7 Pro without having to buy a new license, so you might want to look this up

I have to upgrade my PC and have no choice but Win 8 on a new PC. I don't want to pay the high price of having to purchase CS6 (nearly $1K), as Adobe no longer offers upgrades.

Has anyone been able to get CS5 working on Win 8 64 bit?

Looks like I may have to go to GIMP and loose some of my plug-ins, if I can't find a solution.

Can you post more information about the camera your using because different cameras produce different amounts of noise at the same ISO that way someone with your camera or same sensor in a different camera could help you better. I don't normally print large prints but I'm with Mt Shooter on this that if you are looking at the picture on screen at a 1 to 1 ratio and see more noise, even with noise reduction, than you think is acceptable at about normal viewing distance. Then, there is to much noise in the picture for the size of print you want. I have also have done some experiments when I'm printing pictures that have to much noise that by using using a dry brush filter effect some pictures can look acceptable even with a lot of noise otherwise. I don't know if the attached picture helps but I got a reasonable looking print of the picture as a 4 by 6 from adoramapix when you look at it from normal viewing distance.

I am looking for information or samples regarding acceptable levels or noise for larger prints (16x20+)

I am a pixel-peeper. I often shoot landscapes and other art in ISO 100-400 and noise is not an issue. When I shoot concerts I use ISO1600-3200 and the noise is way too much for my taste.

Does anyone have 100% crop samples of prints they have sold? Higher ISO wedding photos would make great examples since quality is necessary there.

Sounds like the CDC got in with the Humane Society of America in not wanting anyone to own pets because they can all bite and spread disease. People just haven't got the common sense that you wash your hands thoroughly after handling any animal and before eating and understand your pet you can prevent getting bit and getting a disease such as Salmonella from them. Also, almost every animal people own as pets are exotic and not native to the area they have them as pets in.

windows 8 works better than Windows 7 on my old touch screen laptop after installing startisback for a start menu and disabling the start screen on start-up.

There's a problem with your thinking. Back then it was musket balls and swords fighting musket balls and swords, and everybody had access to the same types of weapons. Now, welcome to day where we have modern day assault rifles. There is a big discrepancy between an assault rifle and a musket. You do know, criminals don't listen to laws now so why should they be able to get machine guns and semi-automatic guns as well as high capacity ammo clips while legal gun owners can't get them legally. Also, part of the Second Amendment goes back to the Deceleration of Independence in us being able to defend ourselves if needed against the tyrannical government. Which, if you go read the Deceleration of Independence you will see that within the last 50 years are government has done a lot of the problems we had against the King of England. In addition, due to advances of medical treatment you are now far less likely to die from a gunshot wound then you were from a musket ball or bayonet. How about instead of passing new laws enforce the existing ones, or even hand every man, woman, and child capable of holding it, a fully loaded gun and see how there would less gun crime especially after the morons trying to hold people up were eliminated from the gene pool. Go read the articles on gun violence and other violent crimes in areas where guns are illegal to own on Google and others such as in Sweden where everyone has a gun.

Before, you get to talking and ridiculing me no I am not pro-gun or anti-gun. I think its a personal choice and really I think the government should read the Constitution and follow it and keep out of our personal lives.

What is the necessitate of civilians owning machine guns and semi-automatic guns? What is the necessitate of civilians owning high capacity ammo clips? Those items are designed to outright kill masses of human beings quickly as in war.

Those items are designed for use by military personnel and maybe some civilian police SWAT teams. A real hunter would not use them for hunting game.

As for the Second Amendment, recall that it was written when weapons were mostly single shot muskets and swords. The funding fathers could not foresee the types of weapons we have today but they were smart enough to make the Constitution flexible to fit the needs of future generations by including a provision for adding Amendments to the Constitution.

If those types of weapons and clips were banned, one could still "bear arms" by purchasing hand guns which are still superior to muskets. One could argue that banning them would mean that like during Prohibition (illegal alcohol), the bad guys would still illegally obtained banned items and the good guys would be out gunned. That's why there are heavily armed civilian police SWAT teams and the National Guard.

The point is that banning those high powered rapid firing high capacity clips human killing machines would not infringe on the Second Amendment because as previously stated, one could still "bear arms" by purchasing hand guns.

Banning them is not the "all solution" to the problems of killing civilians in our society. Could it be one step as a part of the solutions? There are several other "steps" which are needed to be addressed regarding civilian killings.

The only reason to kill a civilian in our society is in self defense. A hand gun would do that very effectively.

For an easy way to see where you would like to crop and experiment with different aspect ratios look up JPEGCrops on google and turn the photo to a jpeg and import it into the application then you can try out and see what many standard crop ratios would look like and move it around. The only downside is that this program only works with Jpegs.

To view the camera settings on the back temporarily press the Q button if you want to leave the display on press the info button till it cycles through to showing the camera settings (keeping this display on uses up more battery power than leaving it off though) to to get the sensor cleaning back when you start your camera go into menu, then on the 8th tab from the right 4th from the left there is a setting for sensor cleaning, enable auto cleaning.I'd also like to recommend reading Canon EOS 60D From Snapshots to Great Shots and David Busch's Canon EOS 60D Guide to Digital SLR Photography for more information on the Canon 60D I found both these books more useful then the owners manual at setting up my camera and what the different settings actually do.

If you manual focus you might wanyt to try this out http://www.ebay.com/itm/KPS-UMC-1-3x-Magnifying-Eyepiece-for-CANON-NIKON-PENTAX-SONY-OLYMPUS-DSLR-Camera-/400337631079?pt=US_Viewfinders_Eyecups&hash=item5d35fb7767

I use one on my 60D and my wife's t3i and it makes the viewfinder appear about twice its size and it screws on, the only down side is it darkens the corner of the viewfinder.

I use the Tamron one on my 60D I didn't have the sigma one available to try one I went to the camera store here. I'm satisfied with it. I don't normally use auto-focus cause I like doing it manually but its auto-focus is faster than my canon 50mm 1.8/f ii lens. If you do a search for the Tamron 18-270 lens you wanted you'll find a lot of other responses about this lens as well as some sample pictures by others on here.

I'd like to recommend two books to help you with this camera 1st Canon EOS 60D: From Snapshots to Great Shots By Nicole S. Young and the second is David Busch's Canon EOS 60D Guide to Digital SLR Photography. The 1st book will help you get familiar with your camera and set it up for your needs and the second one is an expanded owners manual type of book. I've used both a lot while I was learning to use my camera.

So, I take the refurb Canon 60D out of the box.............played around with it a little bit. Tonight I wanted to video some fireworks. I EVEN READ THE INSTRUCTIONS on how to do that. I followed the aforementioned instructions, turning the dial to the little video icon. Pressed button to start. After a minute the camera shut off, all it did was take a snapshot. What did I do wrong? Oh, and the snapshot was crap. LOL I'm sure it is just some simple little thing that is perhaps not real clear in the book????? It said that a little icon would be visible in the upper right corner of the viewing screen on the back. Nope, probably because it wasn't video-ing. Any suggestions?

Since you are using a full frame
I don't think any of them will suit your needs I'm not sure of the other but the Tamron 18-270 is for crop sensor cameras like Canon 60D for a full sensor its the Tamron 24-300 or 18-200 here's a link for the full frame Tamron Lenses

I know the general limitations of this kind of lense. But if I were to buy one, does anyone have a preference?

I'm with everyone else in that I think something wrong with your settings to have to use such a high ISO: where others mentioned shutter speed to fast, I'm wondering if your using to small of an aperture for a greater depth of field, could you please post the exif then maybe would can help you get the results you want without spending the dough.

Well i have stobes in my little studio but have difficulty using it because there is alot of light spill no matter how low i put the light so i tend to use only continuous lights and i find i have to use 3200 iso and then take the grain out in lightroom. I use a 24 70 2.8lens as well as my 50mm 1.4 and i have a sb700 but never used it in studio because i just got it a month ago and did a wedding so i used it in the church.
