I am thinking about buying one of the following
Sigma 18-250
Tameron 18-250
Tameron 18-270
Cannon 18-200
I know the general limitations of this kind of lense. But if I were to buy one, does anyone have a preference?

The first thing I would do is google "lens reviews." It's good to get a professional reviewer's opinion before you spend your money.

18 to 270. Great walk around lens. but, it is a cropped frame lens, as the others are, and not a good idea if your future plans include going to a full frame body.

I use the Sigma 18-200mm as one of my two walk around lenses. The other is the Sigma 15mm. They're both fantastic. The 18-250mm shouldn't be much different. :)

I have the Tamron 18-250 as a walk around and just love it and haven't had it off the camera since its purchase.

I just got back from a 3 week driving trip out west. Drove 5330 miles and took 5887 pictures. (not all keepers). Used a Canon 50D with the 18-200 lens. Got great pictures. All my other lenses are L-series but I did not want to drag 2-3 lenses around. The 18-200 is a very good, not great, lens.

PhotoTex, go to "Am I being ripped off" posted by br3kes who's selling the Tamron 18-270 with information about it. Their posting is today also.

Hello, I use the sigma lens and have had very good results it is set on a Nikon D60 so not a top of the range camera but as has been said elsewhere its not just about the camera, it's what you see. Geoff

I have the Sigma 18-250mm lens: Sigma 10-20 mm lens and the Canon 24-70 mm. I am very pleased with them all. Sigma builds a very solid lens that takes sharp photos. I don't think you would go wrong with their 18-250 lens.

I have the Sigma 18-250 and love it. I'm most impressed at the shots I take at the 200 to 250 range. I thought they might be soft but they are very clear and sharp.

Since you are using a full frame
I don't think any of them will suit your needs I'm not sure of the other but the Tamron 18-270 is for crop sensor cameras like Canon 60D for a full sensor its the Tamron 24-300 or 18-200 here's a link for the full frame Tamron Lenses
