The gentleman did not give any information on what kind of computer he was using. In any case, if it is a desktop he can get a PCI or other card to add an additional monitor. If he has a laptop, he can add an additional monitor to his present laptop screen and set it to be an extension, rather than a duplicate of his present screen.

If he wants to run two external screens that are contiguous to one another, rather than mirrors, then there are adapters that work with the computer's USB output, that can add a second external screen. These have high resolution, but their refresh speed is not suitable for video, but quite nice for Photoshop. There are a number of companies marketing second monitor adapters, with USB inputs and either DVI or VGA outputs.

Thank you, but you are missing the point. I do my political jousting on political sites. I keep my photography discussions strictly to the subject at hand. Since most of the postings are one-sided polemics and not meant for discussion, I'll bow out and recommend all my associates to do the same. It was a nice site until the nastiness crept in. Good bye. Either take politics out of this photography site or lose people who are solely interested in advancing photography. I am a ptofession photographer with work in the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. I am appalled at the level of virulence and lack of civility in these postings. Sorry guys, I'll be gone if I still see this viciousness in next month's release.

Politics like religion ought to not be discussed at all on this site. Especially the kind of outrageous speculation and unsupported assertions made by this gentleman. The site's broad mandate of discussion, which can include loosely associated topics does not stretch to this type of material. Keep it off or you'll diminish the value of the site.

I replaced my long loved Mac book with the new MacBook Pro. I had the MacBook for 6 years. Most of which were trouble-free. The only problem I had in 6 years. A new defective external hard drive damaged my logic board. I checked the computer in on Sunday morning to have it looked at it they said it needed a logic board and that I would have to leave it. My experience with Windows-based serviced machines would've meant and it would have been without a computer for the better part of the week. Apple called me Sunday afternoon. Best service ever!! Most of the Nikons software work in a reduced capacity. The print dialog box It is a bit reduced compared to Windows and periodically I hit the Function key instead of the Control key and vice a versa and that up until now has been about the extent of my complaining. I upgraded to Snow Leopard about midway through the MacBook six-year life. Initially when I bought my MacBook I bought Adobe CS 3. Design Premium It was the 1st version of Adobe to run on the Intel processor Macs it worked great with both Mac operating systems. I skip CS 4 and upgraded to CS 5 Design Standard mostly for the content aware in Photoshop. Design premium has Flash and Dreamweaver. The plan was to save a few bucks and to continue CS3 versions of Dreamweaver and flash. Everything was fine until my MacBook had to be replaced. My new MacBook Pro comes with the lion operating system installed. The problem is and I think it's a big problem, my $1500 Adobe CS 3 design standard is not supported on my new $1800 MacBook Pro. CS 3 was pulled from the shelves in late 2008 and early 2009. OS 10 lion hit the shelves in July 2011. So you could spend up to $1800, depending on what the incarnation of CS 3 you purchase, for an high end suite that could be functionally obsolete in 3 years. I think a 3 year service life for products of this expense is pretty chintzy. I'm not sure who I'm most angry with Mac or Adobe I'm sure it was a team decision. I'm hoping that one of them will come up with the patch. For now they say Not. BIG rip-off.
Has anyone here had to deal with this situation? More importantly does anyone have a solution?

It would be easier and cheaper to get another drive (external) and install a version of Leopard or Snow Leopard on it and boot off that drive when you have to work with Adobe products not compatible with Lion. I have a 230 Gig external pocket drive where I partitioned it into several 10 or 20 GB volumes. I installed different older versions of OS on them and also put whatever compatible version of an application that I need that will not work with Lion. Then I boot up with the older version of the OS when I need to use that particular application.

In order of sharpness are first "prime" lenses. These are single focal length lenses that are specifically optimized for that focal length. They may, in some cases, be optimized for flat-field copying of text or paintings. General purpose lenses are slightly compromised by being optimized for infinity, as well as close distances.

Kit lenses are usually zoom type and vary tremendously in quality. They are usually not as good as higher quality, more robust and better designed (and consequently more expensive) lenses. The kit lenses are quite variable in quality. Indeed, the older Nikon 18-135 mm kit lens is quite sharp, and sharper than their newer 18-105 lens. And this is true even though the newer lens has anti-shake built-in.

It should be noted that the higher quality lenses are more robust, better sealed, use less plastic, heavier, may have faster focus motors, and in general give a better, sharper corrected image. Whether your photography will show the difference in lenses is another question.

On the statue's brass plaque describing the sculptor's conceptual origin for the nurse being kissed by the Sailer in Times Square on hearing about the unconditional surrender of the Japanese is there a mention of who created the original photographic documentary image. It was the brilliant Life Magazine staff photographer Alfred Eisensteadt. Why isn't that mentioned on the plaque? Or is there a separate credit not recorded here?

Memory cards do fail. I and an associate both have had the seperate experiences of a 32 Gbyte card totally failing after several days of use on our brand new Nikon D7000 cameras. I was using a Maxell card. After accumulating more than a thousand images the card refused to display or record any images. The camera appeared to want to reformat the card. The card would not mount on my computer either. Use of recovery software was to no avail. No recovery program could see the card at all. The Disk Utility application on my Mac showed only 12 MB for the card. Discussions with data recovery companies elicited that it was likely that some internal wire in the chip had blown. Recovery could only be done by a professional company for at least $1,000. I sent the card back to Maxell for their inspection, but they were unsuccessful.

There is some Nikon usergroup scuttlebutt that the Nikon D7000 has had an unusually high rate of card failures. As the camera is relatively new I'm awaiting further information. The Nikon D7000 allows you to write to two cards simultaneously. If you are doing important work with your D7000, I recommend you use a duplicate card and write to both.
