A story I heard 5-7 years ago and posted her, to what I thought were my friends, may just get me killed this weekend. I would like to thank MWAC for starting a fire storm.

What an absolutely disgusting thing to say.

How pathetic is it when a grown man can write things like that.

OK... jsut wanted to know if you had LiveView... Some people have it and don't know it. It helps me focus by using the 10X magnified view. Can get pretty clear shots of the moon through my telescope. Below are a few photos that I took through my Dynamax 8 SCT telescope.

What type/make of camera do you have? I am asking to see if you have LiveView or a similar accessory.

10 yr old Canon Rebel. I do have the camera adjusted so I can take off my glasses. But to need to put on my reading glasses to check some stuff. It was just a nice night and I had a ruff day. Just wanted to keep trying to do some shooting even as my back started to go.I was using a 75-300 lens and had it cracked out all the way. To bad Auto Focus would not work.
Oh no Live View.

Thanks for stopping by.

I love the third one. I get somuch light coming from the city, it washes out most of everything. I do have a 6 in short tube reflector, but it is a bear just moving it around.

Well it seem to be a full moon last night. Well at lease with my glasses. I did set the camera to "M" , f/16, 1/100th sec. But well they didn't come out well. The second one I moved up the ISO to maybe 400, but still not good.

I was using my tripod and used shutter delay so the tripod would have 10 sec to quite down.

On a few of the shots the camera meter didn't like the the Sweet 16 and wanted to increase the shutter speed to 5 sec.

Your thoughts are most welcome

As I lean forward to adjust the focus, my back started going out. So not the best focus.

Dblunt76 is correct. 1/4 inch, 20 threads per inch. (At least for every camera that I've owned.)

I built a mono-pod myself, using 1-1/4 inch diameter doweling, a threaded insert, a 1/4-20 setscrew, and a rubber washer.

5 foot long for the wood pole sound about right?

Yes we have the right to take pictures, well we use to before
911. Now it seems we (those living in America) are losing
more of our right each day.

Yes maybe a card with our rights on it is a good thing to have
with us.

But some of you mite remember what happened at Kent State,
and they were only saying stuff about Viet Nam.

So lets all be careful out there. The police have a lot on there
hands.

I have learn from this group that sometimes you need to for lack of a better work "bend". But even though I do get down there and get shots from other angles, well getting up is a bear. So I was wondering is there a way to pass on the getting down and getting up part. But still get shots from another angle?

My camera is a 10 yr old Canon Rebel and it does have video out ports. But they seem to be for down loading from the memory card.

What I would need is a way to see what the camera see, and what the camera is telling me, played onto some type of monitor.

Any help would be welcome.

Hi Dietxanadu: I hope I'm understanding your question correctly. Let me try to paraphrase it, as I understand it, you have difficulty physically getting down on to your knees, belly or what ever is required to take a picture from the proper height and it is equally difficult, once you've gotten down to climb back up to a standing position. Am I correct? In short, if I understood the question, the answer is no! I've had back surgery leaving one of my legs with nerve damage, So I can appreciate your delima. What I have taken to doing is using my hiking stick, I can brace myself with it both getting down and getting up, it also passed as a semi suitable monopod. Your camera is what it is and there is nothing wrong with the Canon Rebel camera even if it's 10 years old, I've seen the pictures you have posted here and even if they don't have the highest pixel count. The quality is still there. How often do you plan on blowing them up to poster size anyway?

Yes bad back, got hit hard by a truck, so in a lot of pain.
turned her to talk to folks and ended up in more trouble. Oh well!
The walking pole would be nice. I wonder if they make Momopods
that will double as a walking pole

A couple writers above have correctly pointed out that any creative work, be it a novel's manuscriipt or a musical work or a photograph, is considered under US law to be copywrited at the moment of it's creation. They have also pointed out that the tricky part comes in proving you are the creator.

An old trick among garage tinkerers/inventors is to make detailed drawings of the thingy they've just created and mail those drawings to themselves by certified mail. Sign the envelope across the seal area of the flap. When the mail arrives, put it somewhere safe and keep it against the day when the envelope can be opened in court, preferably by the judge.

Something similar could be done if you have two email addresses, or a trusted friend or family. If you email the photo to yourself at your second email address, there would be a record with you ISP, as there would be if you sent it to the family member or friend.

There is no provision in copyright law regarding any such type of protection. Poor man's copyright is therefore not a substitute for registration. According to section 408 of the U.S. Copyright Act of 1976, registration of a work with the Copyright Office is not a prerequisite for copyright protection.
It is copyrighted in the U.S. as soon as it is made. Getting paid for it's use is hard becauIse you must prove that the offending party has profited from your work and that it was not used for educational or comparison as in a critique. Read about DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) it might help.

I think that's what I said; it's considered copywrited the moment its made. What I didn't say is that a poor man's copywrite is a pre-requisite for protection. The p oint I was making is that, in the same way that an oral contract is equally as binding as a written one, the fly in the ointment comes in proving the existence of the contract. The same would apply in the case of copywrite. You need to be able to show that you are the creator.

The old trick of sending one through the mail to yourself, not opening it and signing over the seal should work in a court of law according to a lawyer I consulted about 5 yrs. ago.

It would be nice if they had "clicks" on them. So when you
turn it you can have 1 click, 2 clicks and so on.
I just turn mind to what looks good and see what I get later.
So I guess I could use a good answer

I believe he had a pair of reading glasses that are made
so one lens can fold up. Look in the back of a photo magazine

Hope you find them
