Thank you very much for the interesting Story, where did you find a BMW R60 in those days? That must have been some trip. I never went the Dease highway, as far as I got was Hazelton, at the time I went fishing there the Highway was not built yet, I drove the Alcan 3 times. Now Stewart is in the USA, my brother in law went there once. I read that somewhere too that the upper Stikine is a world class river for kayakers, from the Wrangell side it is just a huge river with a normal run. Sorry to hear about the camera. I had a similar experience in Garibaldi Park BC. Mosquitoes are the national bird of the north along with the sand flies and black flies.
Thank you very much for the interesting Story, whe... (show quote)

It was my very first long motorcycle trip. I found the R60 for sale at a gas station. I had a bad crash five years earlier (Triumph Trident, way to much bike for my level of experience), and in my hospital bed, I promised myself that if I ever got back on a motorcycle, it would be a BMW, because I thought they were slow and clunky, and I wouldn't hurt myself again. Turns out I was wrong on both counts...

Anyway, five years later I found myself passing the BMW for sale every day on my way to work, and finally decided it had my name on it. I think I was also motivated by a desire to get away from an unpleasant marriage (took me five more years to get a divorce).

I rode BMW for five more years before being pulled over to the dark side. I switched to Harley-Davidson, starting with a clapped-out 1960 Pan (kick-start, ignition retard and all), and ending twenty years later on a customized FLHS, with a 4" X 4" 100 cu. in motor that id designed had had built, which had about twice the power of the standard motor. I went all over the United States on that one, and it finally brought me to Colorado in 1998.

If you ever in Wrangell Alaska, Norwegian Line stops there, be sure to take a jet-boat tour up the Stikine River, this is unspoiled wilderness. The tour ends in lake which name I forgot, there a glacier feeds huge icebergs into the lake as you can see. Too bad the weather was lousy and that happened to me twice.

In June of 1975, I rode my motorcycle (BMW R60) up the Cassiar-Dease highway (before it was paved). I had to go down to Stewart, B.C. to get a broken fairing brace re-welded, than back to the Cassiar-Dease. I stayed that night in Stewart, and the next night in Eddontenajon, B.C., then crossed the Stikine the next day to Telegraph Creek. I rode south from there to the end of the dirt road (about 8 miles?), where I left my bike and exchanged it for an outboard-powered 14-foot aluminum boat. We motored a few more miles down the Stikine. He was homesteading on the last habitable piece of land before the Stikine plunged into a canyon that is virtually impassable. He also claimed that the Stikine has the fastest current of any river in North America (9 knots? Unable to verify this...).

My memories are 1) Mosquitoes. Unbelievable mosquitoes! and 2) writing in my journal at midnight by the light coming through my bedroom window.

I had a 50mm Yashica with me, and I think I have some photos somewhere of his homestead. On the way back out, down the Cassiar-Dease, I caught a few photos of some bear cubs (Black, or maybe grizzly) on the side of the highway, but I did not know where mama bear was, so I just straddled the bike with the engine running in case I had to make a quick getaway. Shortly after that, when I went to take some more photos down the road, I discovered the lens had vibrated loose from its screw-in housing, so that was the end of my photo efforts for that trip. (When I got home, I got my first Nikon, an FM, which I still have.)

Oh, that must be such a thrill to watch! Excellent shots, bdo!

Thank you. It takes a lot of patience. There are long periods of inactivity, interspersed with short moments of great activity. The activity makes up for a lot of the boredom. And, of course, I never know when the activity will ocur, so I have to stay pretty attentive.

You can do them in Photoshop and probably most other PS like software.
Not as convenient as it looks like Tych Panel 2 looks like it would be however.
I say 'looks like it would be' because I tries for weeks to get it downloaded and working and never got there.
My impression is that it is a pretty old software, I see dates like 2011 and 2013 on web sites talking about it.
Have you seen this site? http://www.pluginsfree.net/2013/07/tych-panel-2-for-photoshop.html

I found a YouTube video that showed me how to make the 4-image panel within Photoshop, and relatively simply, as well.

And when all is said & done, I'm not too impressed with the result.

Thanks again for your help.

I don't have patience sometimes for birds todo what I want but your sequences are great and tell a story. Enjoyed them. Tony

Thank you.

This nest is right by the side of the road. I can park on the edge of the road, open my tailgate and set up the tripod and camera so I can sit in the shade of the tailgate and watch for activity. I use a cable release, and sometimes just "spray and pray" in burst mode without using the viewfinder.

But my limit is about an hour of that...

Thanks for the URL. I did find it when searching Google, but was unable to use it to download. And the three comments are not exactly encouraging.

It has occurred to me that it should be something that I could do in PS CC, so I'll start looking for tutorials and videos using PS.

Thanks for the tips.

Is anyone out there actually using Tych Panel 2?

I have a set of four images I want to combine into a single "quadtych" (like "triptych", only four instead of three images). I chased Tych Panel 2 all over Google yesterday for over an hour, finally found a website on duckduckgo that at least allowed me to send them an email (no response yet).

Or, is there a good alternative to Tych Panel 2?

Thanks.

Sequence of four images of fledgling osprey leaving nest under mother's watchful eye. I don't think this was quite the first flight for the fledgling. I waited for over an hour for its return, but it never happened. I did see male, female and fledgling circling nest, but was unable to bring all three into focus at the same time.

Nikon D7000 on Nikon 400mm f/2.8 at f/11, tripod mount, cable release
PP Photoshop CC, adjust exposure & WB, one pass through Focus Magic out-of-focus at 3 or 4 pixels

Funny. I thought this was a forum to consider "other peoples talks" (sic). A grammarian you're not, my friend.

As far as being a moron, I need only consider the source.

Lighten up! Go take some photographs!

...This is the site portal to the Stata Center at M.I.T...

This is way off topic, but is this named for Ray Stata, founder of Analog Devices?

The reason I ask is that I worked for Stata in 1969, until he was succeeded by Emil Rechsteiner in 1969 or '70. Analog Devices originally occupied part of the Polaroid complex in downtown Cambridge, but outgrew those quarters in 1970 and moved, as I remember, to Norwood. I was in charge of "data processing" (before "IT"). One of my funnier recollections was going down to the construction site and discovering the contractor had built the computer room (and they had heavy cooling requirements in those days) rotated 90 degrees from the blueprint. I don't remember the resolution of that one, but it wasn't funny after the initial discovery.

More storied, but I'm way off the original track, so I'll shut down for now.

This may or may not be an answer to your problem but I too have a Mac. Normally a picture opens quickly from Bridge to PS (or Bridge to Camera Raw to PS) but sometimes I get a black window instead of an image in PS. When that happens I quit PS and then reopen and all is fine. It hasn't always been like this- just since the last several updates from PS CC. Maybe it's a Mac problem. It's not an answer but a temporary solution. I keep hoping it will correct itself with the next update-

I'm no fan of El Capitan (Mac OS). After a week of being unable upload several Adobe programs (like PSE 12) several months ago on a Mac Book Pro, I spent several days deleting El Capitan and reloading next level down (Senior moment - can't remember name of next level down from El Capitan). It was no picnic, but I managed. Everything ran OK after that.

Note: The MBP came with only El Capitan installed, and no previous systems. Apple does not make previous OS available under those conditions. If you have upgraded to El Capitan from earlier OS, you may not experience the difficulties that I did.

And you're going to spent the rest of your life checking up to make sure he doesn't do it again?

Lighten up! He went back and double-checked, and he apologized; that's more than most do around here.

It is all politics today and unrealistic expectations of human capabilities. Anything we make can and does fail, cars break down all the time and mostly due to poor owner maintenance. But there is seldom any news on this because the car just stops with no fatality...

You hit one of my hot buttons there.

There are very few accidents (i.e. acts of god without any rational explanation). Lightning qualifies in my book, and that's about it.

Why are car and truck drivers not assigned much more responsibility for the fatal events they cause? Anyone in charge of a 1,000+ lb. (up to 80,000-100,000 lb.) mass of steel rolling at up to 80+ mph has more than a casual responsibility to operate said projectile in more than a responsible manner.

My step-son (age 56) just got rear-ended by a texting teenager who never even hit the brake. Result: He has a herniated neck disk that requires 24-hour foam neck brace, constant pain. He has to sleep upright in a chair for the next 6-8 weeks. New car was totaled.

(If there were any justice, she would at least have to wear the neck brace for the same amount of time.)

Yet the mainstream press continues to report "accidents" on the highway. These are not "accidents", they are irresponsible acts while driving. And my impression is that our justice system continues to regard these acts as "accidents, and give the perps a slap on the wrist. Here in Colorado, we finally got some legislation that regards the third (fourth?) DUI/DWI as a felony. But even then it has to go through the full jury trial rigamarole.

Lightning? Act of god... Rear-ending while texting? Throw them in jail and throw away the key.

B&H is offering a $20 discount on the single-payment annual subscription (brings it down to $99) to Photoshop and LR CC.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1109799-REG/adobe_65259143_creative_cloud_photography_plan.html/ap/Y/pd/PSWBH16?utm_medium=Email%201620702&utm_campaign=Promotion&utm_source=PhotoshopWorld2016%20160718&utm_content=Retail&utm_term=adobe-cc-photography

I purchased that same option a week ago for $119.88 from Adobe. I contacted Adobe (through their Chat Room), and they agreed to cancel my subscription and refund the purchase price. Refund takes about a week. I had them do the cancellation, and immediately ordered the plan through B&H.

Supposedly continuity will not be affected. I'm just starting down this road, so even if I lose my past week's work, I'm not out a whole lot.

I'm sure the single annual payment is not for everyone, but I have medical issues that make it attractive to me, especially with the $20 discount.
