Sorry didn't realize I was in wrong forum I will take better care in the future where I post....thanks for pointing this out to me...as for the picture Im about to give up was just trying to re-do an old faded photo and I think its a hopeless cause. I have tried to fix the errors that were pointed out and I just get back to the old picture..
I wasn't replying to you---you are in the right forum, English Wolf was lost and the one with the attitude. For those that think I'm wrong to stand up for a new member as was posted earlier today in another thread----too bad.........

Photogs like EW are the main reason I quit posting my photos on UHH....It IS possible to c/c without being ugly, mean or arrogant....Sure sends a lot of newbies to other forums...! And then when you stand up for yourself or someone else...your pics get ignored....I still love to check out the pics and comments but have not posted in a long time...Linda

I don't think you are wrong in this case at all. I applaud you. Isn't it rather interesting that EW has never posted a picture for any kind of critique?
Anyway, good for you Coco, and Kruse, never feel bullied by anyone in here. Let them huff and puff, they can't blow anything down. 8-)

OK, Not asking for any critiques here, I am aware that these pics are HORRIBLE quality...yet I am still patting myself on the back that I even was able to SORTA capture them...I believe these are Terra Sphinx Moths...also known as Hummingbird Moths, or one version of them...If someone knows different, please share.

As I said, these are terrible quality..I already had my camera packed for vacation, it was pitch black out, and I had on the wrong lens....I was just shooting blind...still never saw one of these before.

Tracey I am hoping, since you are not on line, that it is ok to post some pics of a humming bird moth I got in South Texas while at the Deer lease in spring...They are not the clear wing moths, but are pretty and very quick as well...We also have these kind at our home in Central Texas...They feed on my night blooming Datura...I dont think I have ever seen the clear wing here...Thanks for letting me post...Linda

Hi Mortonfarm:

Thank you. You are not alone. A lady friend of my wife and me
go for rides in the country. She is always asking me to take
these kind of pictures. It grows on you.

Are you open to others posting their strange pics on your thread? I don't want to be accused of Hijacking your thread by sharing a photo of mine...!

Mortonfarm is right on about the medicinal qualities of the mullein plant.
According to some historians, the Native Americans also used the plant leaves to relieve headaches.

I guess one just slaps a leaf or two on the forehead and you're good to go. Certainly couldn't hurt I guess.
(Unless you slapped it on too hard) ;-)

Dirt

Thanks for the validation Dirt....As I remember..She folded a muslin feedsack and laid it on my chest...( I was about 10 or so yrs old) then saturated the fuzzy mullein leaves, and the bigger mustard green leaves from the garden with very hot water, not boiling, and placed them on a single layer of cheesecloth, topped with another folded muslin feedsack (flour actually) and laid the whole thing over my chest...repeated about 3 - 5 times during the night...next day congestion relieved and minimal coughing and no fever...day after that...good to go...back to getting into everything on the farm I could find to do...! She was a wonder, my Ma Mac was...! Linda

Thanks alot gessman, good info. We can always use more h2o around here.

Seeing as to how it is growing where it is, and considering that it's the only example of its species in that area, it could be that the bird that carried it there just forgot to drop it in another more suitable place, sort of a cling-on kind of seed that sort of got stuck in some tail feathers and didn't turn loose when it should. We'll know next Spring.

Just some interesting info...Mullein is very common in the piney woods of south east Tx. My grand mother, her mother before her, etc. used a hot plaster of mullein and mustard green leaves on the chest to relieve chest congestion and pneumonia in the days before antibiotics...She made one for me once when I was staying with her and got a summer chest cold...quite effective...! Believe it or not, my husband's name is Wolf. It's actually Wolfgang or Wolfie but he goes by Wolf. His mom and dad came to Canada from Switzerland in the 1950's. His mom is German and his dad is Swiss. We have signed all our Christmas letters "Wolfsgang" for years so I thought Wolfsmate was fitting.

I grew up in the Southwest. My house is a mix of Indian, Kokopelli and chili peppers.

I love southwestern decor, esp. the so soothing colors...I have a cedar flute that I like to play when I am by myself...just whatever notes come from inside me at the time..I played flute and piccolo in high school band...and have a smattering of Cherokee in my blood...so I guess that is why I am drawn to Kokopelli. What an interesting history....Mozart's first name was Wolfgang...such a talent...Thanks for sharing...!

I took this shot...a purely lucky one...out the window as we were driving across the New Mexico plains...you can see the blur across the bottom of the vegetation, tho the subject of the photo, the old abandonded church is in clear focus..has had nothing edited except for a slight crop...Taken with my Sony Cybershot DSC H-2..Auto setting and hand held...thru car window. This is one of my favorite pics...Linda Morton

I am an avid photographer of mostly outdoor & existing light photography, living in Upstate NY. The last couple yrs I've also enjoyed doing 'photo restoration'. Deteriorating vision from a progressive eye disease has at times made my photography difficult, even having to give it up at one time because I could no longer focus my shots. The transition to Digital gave me back the ability to photograph, as well as the creative control that I had years ago when I managed a photo lab.
I currently use a Canon point & shoot.
(...until the camera-fairy brings me a digital SLR. :o)
I have set up a (little-traveled) website in an attempt to get my work out there & do some work from home, as yet, to no avail ....but I've fulfilled a dream just getting it up & running & having it there.
Feel free to visit & let me know what you think;

Thanks, I look forward to participating in this community!
