I am an avid photographer of mostly outdoor & existing light photography, living in Upstate NY. The last couple yrs I've also enjoyed doing 'photo restoration'. Deteriorating vision from a progressive eye disease has at times made my photography difficult, even having to give it up at one time because I could no longer focus my shots. The transition to Digital gave me back the ability to photograph, as well as the creative control that I had years ago when I managed a photo lab.
I currently use a Canon point & shoot.
(...until the camera-fairy brings me a digital SLR. :o)
I have set up a (little-traveled) website in an attempt to get my work out there & do some work from home, as yet, to no avail ....but I've fulfilled a dream just getting it up & running & having it there.
Feel free to visit & let me know what you think;

Thanks, I look forward to participating in this community!

Welcome to the site De.
I checked out your website....its very well done and you have a very good eye. I found several "favorites" among your images that remind me of The Northeast.
Looking forward to your postings here. I'm sure with the folks here that your site will be well "travelled"
Rocco

Thank you!
I have a rather simple software program called Adobe Photo Deluxe Home edition that I use for restoration.
I do have Photoshop Elements 4.0 installed as well, but have not taken the time to learn to use it as the other is filling my needs. I also have a copy of Photoshop CS2... but have not even installed as I'm afraid it's 'over my head'.
I tend to keep it simple until it no longer fits my needs or does what I want, then move on when time or finances allow.
(Hence, still using a point & shoot!)

I will do that...I have several that I have restored for myself as well as others and would like to exchange ideas... I have an old tintype of my great grandmother and her youngest son that needs some work. My attempts need some advice and critique by a fellow restorer..By the way...your website is nicely done...! Having to move along due to the number of posts, as I want to get to know the folks here, but I'm coming back to look at your website. But no apology necessary for the "head shot" -- I think it's very good! Wish I looked good enough to post a shot like that! LOL.

I'm interested in restoration as well but have no equipment yet. I have a family photo that is over 100 yrs old, a portrait of enormous sentimental value that has a line running through it, so that has spurred an interest in learning restoration.

Keep up the good work!

Thank you!
I bet you could fix that photo up lickety-split. Do you have a scan of it? I'd take a look at it...
