Looking for a new camera and using my 6S+ in the meantime. Hand held...no tripod. Amazing.

I can't count how many people have asked themselves in the last year or so...."Hmmm, what ever happened to that guy?"
For starters, I got a new camera. a Panasonic FZ200 and it is the single best SINGLE camera I've ever had. More about the camera if you really want to know. suffice to say I am hear to say it's a great bridge camera.
Here's a couple of examples.

This is simply...

one of the best cameras....

I've ever used.

You be one steady picture taker. My moon is straight overhead and broke my neck getting a couple shots.

Ya, this was shot straight up as well. You get the crispest shots straight up because you are shooting thru much less atmosphere.

I have tried for years to get a pic like this of the moon. Even on tripod with my Nikon D40-X and a shutter release cable....I couldn't do it.
Then, I bought my PANASONIC DZ-200. I walked out tonight, pointed up, hand held, and took this shot. With a fixed f 2.8 Leica lens across the entire zoom of up to 600mm, this may just be the best all round camera I've EVER owned.

Two men dressed in pilot's uniforms walk up the aisle of the airplane. Both are wearing dark glasses, one is using a guide dog, and the other is tapping his way along the aisle with a cane. Nervous laughter spreads through the cabin, but the men enter the cockpit, the door closes, and the engines start up. The passengers begin glancing nervously around, searching for some sign that this is just a little practical joke. None is forthcoming. The plane moves faster and faster down the runway, and the people sitting in the window seats realize they're headed straight for the water at the edge of the airport territory. As it begins to look as though the plane will plough into the water, panicked screams fill the cabin. At that moment, the plane lifts smoothly into the air. The passengers relax and laugh a little sheepishly, and soon all retreat into their magazines, secure in the knowledge that the plane is in good hands. In the cockpit, one of the blind pilots turns to the other and says, "You know, Bob, one of these days, they're going to scream too late, and we're all going to die."

This woodpecker is slowly destroying my house. I had an exterminator out - there are no bugs in the wood. I've had the holes fixed 3 times already. I bang on the wall when I hear him. I've put a fake owl on my roof, but he KEEPS COMING BACK. This picture was taken yesterday. Any ideas???

P.S. I don't have a gun

This worked for me. Tape some mylar streamers to the house just above where he likes to peck and spray the surrounding area with a bug spray of some kind. The mylar flutters in the breeze and usually keeps them away and if not, a couple tastes of that bug spray should keep him away. Good luck!

Hi. I'm flying in to Chicago at the end of September then driving to Cedar Rapids for a few days with some family. After that I have ten days to explore with a camera. I want to go to Mesa Verde because I worked in Colorado for a while and never made it there. Apart from that I am interested in landscape and wildlife photography so anything that anyone can suggest would help. For those ten days I have no one else to worry about; have camera, will travel!

I have been to Mesa Verde. they are VERY strick there, and you need to check before hand...it may be closed. they seem to do alot of maintainance there. A better choice, if you can make the drive, is the Bandolier National Park, about 45 minutes N.W. of Santa Fe. They let you climb up the ladders to the caves and go inside. I don't know anywhere else where you can do that. Here's what I mean.

Ladders to the past....

I have been seeing a lot of pro & con regarding this subject so I dug up a project I worked on a few years ago.
Whatcha Think C&C welcome.

I'm with you Harv...digital PP has saved alot of pic's I would have dumped....too dark, too light, etc. I love it. I think the key is to use less , not more. A well done PP on a photo should not alert you to the fact that ANY manipulation has been done. That's the real secret.

Today, I raced a NASCAR stock car on a one mile paved oval at the Pikes Peak International Speedway. I can't describe the feeling of the G-forces pushing you back in the seat and centrifical force trying to take you higher up the track as you come out of turn's 2 and 4 at 120pmh and step on it! Lot's of video, and lots of stills, but I won't hog the site with them. Here's a sample...shoot by my lovely wife.

This is NOT the Blue Moon of Kentucky. I think it MIGHT be the "once in a blue moon " that eveyone talks about tho.

Someone asked that I post a picture of the lens. Here it is. Sigma 150-500mm Nikon mount f/5-6.3 AF APO DG OS HSM with original case with strap, lens cover, end cap, telescoping sun shade and attached tripod mount. Paid $650 for it. Some say I over paid. I don't think so, but will consider any reasonable offer or trade for a new (newer?) bridge camera.
