Sounds like a software term. I use Corel photo paint 12 and there is an option in the Image menu to Resample the file your working on weather you want to change the size, pixles, or dpi. So if you down sample it sounds like your Resampleing it to smaller format.

I'm not sure where you are reading that quote from but to me it sounds like a post-production term.

IAM THINKING ABOUT BUYING A CANON 50 MM F 1.8 LENS. DOES THIS LENS HAVE THE 1.6 CROP MAKING IT EQUVILANT TO A 90MM LENS. IS THIS A GOOD PORTRAIT LENS. THANKS

I'm just a beginner/hobbyist photographer but to me it's a good portrait lens. Fairly fast AF. I like it a lot. Here is an example of what a couple pictures looks like with a 50mm 1.8 on a Canon T2i. Download it if you want a closer look.

Great shots, but the cropping so close to the top of the head in both shots makes it feel like they need to duck. A little more negative space will work wonders.

I have a Canon T2i and I bought it with a Fujifilm 4gb class 6 SD card. I'm learning the camera more and I'm looking to upgrade the SD card to start shooting in RAW format. The question is what brand and GB / Class size to go with? I've heard bigger isn't always better, but I'm just looking for an upgrade that won't fail or corrupt the camera. I've read the horror stories in the reviews on some of the cards and quite frankly I'm becoming more confused. Any info would be great but I'm curious as to what other Canon users out there have in their cameras for SDHC or SDXC cards? I understand that there is a risk of getting a "lemon" card with any brand. I have had great luck with the one I am using now and I guess I'm just looking for a little help weeding through the BS in some of these reviews! Thanks for the help in advance.

In the same "Theme" as the first post, I saw this and started giggling the same way when I saw yours. Just proof that the world still has a sense of humor!

Taken with a camera phone. Sorry for the quality.

Can you change the file size to: Jpeg large, or RAW?

This is one of Indian Pipe. How cool if background was black? i am VERY new at this. How do you make the background black? Is this pic any good?

Great pics. usually black backgrounds are done in post production like photoshop, unless you carry a black board to put behind it. If you would like people to "play" with the picture click on the box next to the file that says (store original) that should enable the download feature to take place so they can download it and edit it for you.

Hi,
i have a Canon S3 IS ...just left the Auto Mode woot woot. Here is the question...i opened the aperture in the Av mode to try to take a profile pic with a blurry background. It didn't work...background clear as a bell. Help please!

Try your Tv mode let the camera chose the aperture. Usually works for me. Then look at the exif files to see how it chose and work from there when you use the Av mode again. That's called poor man's training! lol! Also depends on the lens you use too.

Sounds like you need an adjustable backpack. By adjustable I mean the inside dividers of the backpack can be placed where you want them (usually by velcro) to accommodate the equipment your carrying. Something like this?: http://www.amazon.com/Aktiv-Professional-Weather-Computer-Backpack/dp/B002VGWFF4/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1323888566&sr=8-7

What program do you use? I use Corel photo-paint 12, the cutout tool in the program works good but it is just a little time consuming to outline what you need cut out. The biggest problem I have is getting the hair done right.

Here is a sample of what can be done with Halloween photos taken at home to make them a little creepier:
