Jerry, I go with the majority and vote #2. I also like photo #1 with the contrasting background. Do you have Buckeye trees in CO? Good luck! Sharon

I guess I'll ask you first, do you see the difference in sharpness from the first one and the last one? If you don't you are only seeing the little girl not the details.

This is what makes it hard for photographers to give honest critiques, some people take offense and think that you are insulting their family.

There is a downside to becoming a good photographer, you see everything as details, the subject is almost insignificant.

The breaking point to this thinking is what, Ansel Adams said,
"A photograph is often look at, but seldom looked into."

Are you the same Deb, that was on photoblink?

Thanks for your input...and no I do not get offended, you are not "critiquing" my family but my photos and that's what I want. In answering your question, no I'm not that Deb, sorry.

The one suggestion I would give is to really watch how light is falling on her face. The last two photos have very uneven lighting. There are times that harsh lighting cannot be helped, but for a photo to look more professional, the lighting usually needs to be even. (There are, of course, times when intentional shading of a face can create drama.)

Open shade is a nice place to start when working on improving your awareness of light and how it falls on a subject. Here are some great tutorials on open shade: http://thearthurclan.com/2011/04/photography-tutorial-finding-light-in-open-shade/ and http://tidymom.net/2011/photography-tips/.

If you happen to have an overcast day, this would be an awesome time to capture these types of playground photos because you won't have those harsh shadows and you won't have to try to stick to open shade areas.

Just make sure you don't follow the #2 set of suggestions while the car is still moving. If you do, you might just be able to get a close up of an accident scene!

LOL...I'll take that advice as well!!!

Speaking of "accidents scenes" you must of been a witness to some of my photo shoots. I swear it was broken before I even had a chance to.

LOL...I'll take that advice as well!!!
