Thanks for your responses. I have a 7D and a Speedlight 580EX for it and they work nicely for more demanding stuff. I just wanted to extend the flash with my SX50 from that built-in. I didn't want a flash that weighed as much as the SX50 and wanted more portability. You have all been great. What a group!

I want to add a flash to my Canon SX50. I have looked at the Canon Speedlight 270EX and the 90EX. Your suggestions will be of great value to me.

Trip to Spain. Bought a Canon SX50 two days before trip. Did not take my Canon 7D and assortment of lenses. I accomplished everything I wanted with that wonderful camera. My gratitude for the many who posted about this camera over the last several months . The postings from UGHers were the deciding factor in my choosing this camera. Focus right on. Exposures right on and able to make exposure adjustments quickly. Little problem accidentally hitting timing button with my thumb. Was able to learn to avoid. Color adjustments fine. For beginner this is also a good camera. Battery life OK. Price fantastic.
