A cell phone is great until the spammers get your number. I finally got the AT&T to stop them, but I still get several calls a day, not marked spam, with a number and just a location. I tried to get AT&T to send those to voice mail as well, but it hasn't worked so far.

I have a Pixel 7 Pro phone and subscribe to GoogleFi and it screens my calls for me. It has been exceptionally effective in identifying spam calls and for those calls that it cannot immediately identify as spam it asks the caller why they are calling and to leave a message. Spammers never leave a message and just hang up. Those people who really need to talk with me will leave me a message. The system has not failed me yet!

"I took a picture back in 2010 showing people walking up Edinburgh's Royal Mile with not one cell phone in sight - they were actually smiling and talking to one-another!!"

I wonder if the same would be true if you were to take a photo of Edinburgh's Royal Mile today? I would bet not but your point is taken. So much has changed since 2010. Some things have changed for the good, but some changes have not been so great. Just like any other period in Earth's history.

You now have the best pocket camera with a cell phone attached. Congrats, I love mine.

You are right! It is all a matter of perspective. One person's curse is another person's blessing; and vice versa.

"Put pay phones back on street corners and carry a pocket full of quarters."

And don't forget to carry a bottle of disinfectant and a repair kit to deal with the vandalism to the pay phones.

Since Samuel Benjamin Bankman-Fried, has been convicted of fraud, and was the number 2 donator to the Democratic Party, behind Soros, will those Dems who received contributions from him have to return the ill gotten gains so the victims can be compensated for their losses?

First the so-called victims were technically investors who should have known the risks of investing in volatile, risky crypto. They can attempt to recover their investment by filing a lawsuit against FTX but good luck in that endeavor. Second, with extraordinarily little research I found reference to the Democratic Party stating that they will not use the money and will await a legal decision as to the ultimate disposition of the money donated. One possible option noted by the political entities in question would be to donate the money to charity. And finally, your post really needs to be moved to the Attic where the resident trolls will have a field day kicking it around a few times.

Hey, they are solving two issues at once. They are extremely unlikely to have any future problems with both mosquitos and rodents. Not sure how they are going to deal with a bunch of stoned cats though.

Maybe check to see if the Windows USB drivers have become corrupted. Since it is improbable that two different USB Hubs plugged into two different USB ports would suddenly experience the same issue I would start there. One question that I would check into is whether all USB devices fail to work on these hubs or if they are isolated to your mouse and keyboard. It is simple to fix driver problems by uninstalling the driver and then rebooting Windows. Windows will automatically install the appropriate drivers.

To those ardent anti-vaxers, no amount of reason, logic or scientific data can deter them from their delusions about efficacy or dangers of vaccinations. Remember polio? Well that was pretty much wiped out by vaccination. One thing that can't be prevented or cured: Stupid.

Maybe they should start a telethon to raise money for research into how to cure or at least mitigate stupid. Stupidity appears to have reached the level of being a full fledged epidemic.

I have a Google Pixel phone and use Google Fi as my carrier. A great feature that is built into the phone and/or service is that it will screen any calls from unknown callers and ask them why they are calling. Most scammers will hang up immediately but the other day the caller left a message that was simply "I want your money". Now that is a rarity. A scammer who was honest about why he was calling.

Someone's got to do it, right? Install Linux.

Been there, and have done that multiple times, and I could not find a distro that I liked enough or that worked in a way that worked for me. With one exception and that was PopOS which I have installed on an older laptop. It didn't replace Win 11 in my case but did have promise. I have not experienced any significant issues with Win 11 and the ones that I had have been largely corrected in updates.

I consider it a problem when I can't customize my start screen or relocate the taskbar. Win 11 was supposed to be a step forward NOT a step backwards in functionality!

I had issues with Windows 11 when I first started using it but now I would never consider going back to Windows 10.
Also, Microsoft has continued to provide more functionality to the OS and has provided more flexibility in customizing Windows 11. If that is not enough Stardock has a program named Start11 which allows one to further customize the Start Menu and Taskbar including changing it back to a Windows 10 style.

If I could blink my eyes and make Win 11 more like DOS in terms of simplicity, I would. I do not need my PC integrated into and spying on and reporting back on every piece of software I use. I do not need my device listening in on my conversations and watching me remotely from China or any other country. I have nothing to hide and my life is an open book. But I am hanging on to every last vestage of individulism vs. collectivism that I can. I am not anti-social, I am anti-control. Free to critically think, make my own choices and act accordingly to my own discernment not what some dumbass or in this case, smart ass machine may think. I am watching my Grandchild grow up on an IPad (against my better judgement) and he is rapidly becoming socially unadjusted. He is only 8. Don't get me started because it won't end nicely. As far as shopping, learning, building, designing and dreaming... the only thing I need is my eyes, mind and Google. LOL
If I could blink my eyes and make Win 11 more like... (show quote)

I am encouraged that there are still individuals who recognize the importance of being able to think critically because, at this time in history, I see so little evidence that it still exists in the general population. As far as privacy goes, the only way to truly achieve it would be to live off of the grid in a cabin in the wilderness.

I've resisted switching to it because there seem to be no advantages, but several disadvantages (which I don't recall).

I wonder why they couldn't keep the "Windows 10" name as they made changes. Wasn't that the idea when Win10 was introduced?

Windows 11 has continued to evolve via updates and most of those disadvantages have been resolved. I also find it to be very stable and compatible with all of the hardware and software that I moved over from Windows 10.
