I still have this car, bought once, sold once, bought it back, 28 years. I sure do miss the body "I had" when I first bought this car.

I shot with myNikon D7000. Imported images to Aperture. They all appear saturated and not requiring much editing.
Then Shazam, all images "fade" and look lackluster.

When I import photos from my Fuji X Pro 1, this does not happen.

I spent 2 hours on the phone with apple yesterday with no success. They had never heard of this before.

Any diagnostic thoughts out there with a solution????

Is it time to bury my Nikon?

EAM, I was experiencing the same issue recently with both our Nikons's pics, only on a desktop PC system running Win_10.

Color Space profiles were my issue. Not sure how the display setting was changed but the issue was fixed once I set the Display's color profile to sRGB. I set both camera's to the same sRGB profile. And even then, the cams will still have problems capturing the vividness of Reds and Oranges that my eyes can see. ( use "Vivid" setting on the Camera if it helps)

If you are running more than one display, as I am (monitor plus HDTV set), you may have to disable one (TV) to change the settings.

Hopefully you will let us know what the fix was.

I have no idea what is causing this but my first step in the search for an answer would be monitor calibration as the on screen red appearance isn't translating to the print. Ergo the file is unaffected.
Thanks for the reply.
It is fixed. You are correct. A local power failure during an automatic system upgrade is my guess where the issue stemmed from. Color profile changed (corrupted) to an incorrect profile. The Adobe chat support agent helped me set it to the correct profile. Thanks Adobe!

A recent development. My photo editing programs will not display red correctly. The thumbnails show red as I imagine they really are. But when in any "View" mode they fade to washed-out red. The other things that are "Red" on the screen seem fine, only the Photo programs, Adobe CC, Nikon NXD, Windows Photo viewers, are affected, all lose the True Red in a split second of clicking on them, then once they fade, it seems that all other photos also fade. The Internet screen does not fade the Reds (Flickr pix reds stay red), the red icons on my Desktop are Red.

Any ideas what is going on? (btw, printer still prints the full red colors, but knowing if the saturation levels are good is not visible on screen). Tia, Earl

I have posted two shots. They were taken moments apart (the time it took me to remove the 1.4 telextender).
The lens is a Nikon 200~400 f4 and the telextender is a Nikon TC-14II 1.4x. The distance was approx. 100 yards
and a tripod was used.
One shot had the lens set bit under 300mm and using the telextender, the other shot was at 400mm. No post processing done.
I did this to see the effect of using the telextender.

Howard,

I have the same TC-I4II 1.4x Tele and use it on my 300mm F2.8. I have noticed some of the same softer results. As the sun gets lower in the sky the greater the difference is and the softer the Extender shots will become. Loss of light thru the lens is more apparent than meets the naked eye. I have also noticed that there are sweet spots as far as distance of the subject and centered focusing is concerned. With the F4 setting the DOF will be too shallow to the have both the Focused subject and the background in Focus.

The comparison is unfair IMO. The loss of light with the extender changes other EV's, (ISO, SS, EV comp) that are required to produce a similar finished photos with the same light.(Nice job on that, btw) So expecting perfectly equal results is unreasonable. I find that for Hummingbirds in flight the TC-14II Tele with a Better Beamer Flash on a SB600 produces better detail than I get w/o the tele and tighter crops. My tele shots with contrasty backgrounds seem to produce some Double-vision aberrations while the main subject is still very nice. I'm a novice and I'm still learning too, so I look forward to more comments to your topic.

Thanks

Skipper Butterfly, Common. Decent shot for a windy day. Nice Background. Not the most photogenic Butterflies out there. Try posting pic for download.

Those are great comparisons Dannac. The D750 really shines as it should.

Craig F.

I downloaded the garden statue shots and zoomed to 100%, the d7200 is much sharper on the subject(s) and has a brighter background. The D7200 does not have the AA filter and it is gathering more light for a sharper picture with less contrast. In post processing I find it better to tone down brightness or/and add contrast as opposed to the opposite.

It would help to compare histograms.

The indoor shots are not the best for comparisons, Imo. The D7200 shots need some -EC to help reduce the light-shades blowout Thanks Dannac.

I've been watching the weather down there. Seems it's bone dry or pounding rain. The trip to see the family was just wonderful. Got to see the G-kids participating in their sports and did a few things with the family we had not done before. (Duck boat tour in Austin)
Had a great time dragon hunting with some friends and got to shoot the target species I went liking for. I also had lunch with JayPat from this forum. Interesting man and got a little Texas education.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a healthy 2016.
Keep those shots coming. Love your work.

Hi Doc. Thank you.

It finally dried up enough to get out. Beautiful day, enjoyed by all. We'll be at it again soon.

How's the Family in "Round Rock" ? Good trip?

Enjoy!
