I still love to shoot film and while I am sure other cameras are of similar quality, I cannot imagine any better than the F-1. The nFD 200mm f4 macro is what I consider a non-L glass L-glass!

I have a Canonflex R2000 which uses only the R mount lenses. Just wanted to read a little more about the Rs.

Has anyone on this forum ever seen a guide to the Super Canomatic lenses made for the Canonflex R series cameras? I know how to use the lens so that is not the concern. I like reading the lens books such as the nFD Lens Wonderland. I have the guides for FL, FD, and nFD as well as an early version of the EF lenses (courtesy of Bob B). I checked the Butkus site and couldn't find a manual/guide there. Any help would be much appreciated.

Tried to email them but it is not secure, so my computer will not allow me to send it. I may call on Wednesday, but I'm already worried.

Thank you all (mostly) for replying. Let's close this discussion down. I have all the information I need unless someone has the name of someone who does this professionally. As a few noted it's not just assembling the battery pack that is involved. But it's all good...

Thank you so much for your email. I did not note that I cannot see things up close. Severely far sighted. Considered legally blind but glasses correct for driving. Cannot really solder due to sight issues.

Hi Larry,

Thanks for the reply. I was the one that very carefully removed the screws and used a little heat to "loosen" the glue to open up the case. All screws were put in a small pill container so everything is good in that respect.

Thanks for the reply. I'll bring it down to Batteries Plus next week and ask the question. If they "only" have the batteries I have an electrician friend that can do the rest, probably. Frankly, opening the thing up was a tough enough task for me.

You need to figure out how to put that expensive education to good use!!

Interestingly, I worked full-time and emerged from it all debt free. I’ve been a professor for almost 30 years but not particularly handy if electronics are involved.

This Canon Ni-Cd Pack FN no longer holds a charge. The high speed one does, so the charger is still good. On the F-1 Facebook group it was suggested that Batteries Plus can rebuild it. Has anyone had this done or are there other recommendations/suggestions? I have a PhD in history which means I have no discernible skills to do this myself, probably!

Hard to believe this all started with an innocent question about a zoom lens from Sigma that there is no information about. Sigma never responded, KEH cannot find anything, the Facebook Canon FD group knows nothing about it, and there was skepticism that it was Sigma and 40mm at the low end. I thank everyone for responding with help or attempting to help--I really appreciate it. I assume as the originator of the post I can also delete it? If so, I'll let my thanks remain for a day and then take down the thread.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I guess I should have been clearer that I know how to use the lens and how it attaches, etc. I've been shooting Canon FD since 1986. I was hoping to find information on when it was built, the number of elements/groups, that sort of information. The serial number is 6600105, but that is currently meaningless to me since I do not what the start number was. I am including an image noting that it is a Sigma but that it also has a horizontal 3 followed by II. I don't know what that indicates, but maybe a Sigma afficionado will. The 86mm front element makes this lens massive and it does not have a tripod ring. Cannot imagine it would sell on eBay so I'll keep it as an oddity and see what kind of images I get from it.

You’re right but I’m happy with what I have. Don’t want to sell me EF L glass but I’m sure there are adapters for that too. Shoot a lot of film still. I have a Pellix, AE-1P, EF, New F-1, T70, 80, and 90. Three EOS film bodies too. I’ve had my right wrist rebuilt twice and have no strength in it. Film cameras are easier for me to use without a tripod. I can really only use my 100-400 L on a tripod now.

I’ll never afford mirrorless. I have the canon FD to eos macro adapter that I use the 50, 100, and 200 macros on the 5Dii.

I put it on the EF today and took the last shot of a roll.
