Question about an old lens

Does anyone have any information on a Canon FD mount Sigma 40-300mm f4.5-6.5 lens? It has an 82mm filter size. I posted this question in the Canon FD Facebook group but got only "nos". I have performed multiple searches on the web and even emailed Sigma corp directly. It seems to be really well-made. I'm hoping the collective knowledge here has an answer.

What do you want to know? As an FD lens, it has no electronic communications. You mount it to ancient manual focus Canon film bodies. Or, you can get an FD to 'x' adapter and shoot it as a manual focus / manual aperture lens on a digital mirrorless body of mount 'x', where 'x' is your mirrorless brand / model choice.
Are you sure about 40mm on the wide end? That might be why you're having problems finding info?

Yes the 40-300mm seems strange for a lens of that period. Lenses of that period generally don't get pass 3x. zoom range.

100% on the 40mm. I’ve been reading for awhile (lol). I wanted to know if anyone knew any sites or reviews or explanations of this lens. It seems they made a 50-300 version for Nikon, but this is a 40.

Again, what do you think you want to know?
When both google and Sigma-UK don't return such a zoom, I'd tend to give more credence to the internet ...

When was it manufactured, how long, how many elements/groups? Basically the construction of the lens.

This is mine, gifted to me. It’s Sigma. 86mm front i mistakenly stated 82.

I think it would work. Just put it on a Canon FD body like a Canon AE-1 and take some pictures.

I’ll never afford mirrorless. I have the canon FD to eos macro adapter that I use the 50, 100, and 200 macros on the 5Dii.

Any IBIS-enabled mirrorless will do. Sony has been doing these full frames for a decade now. There's plenty of used choices. A used body was my choice, getting up on a decade too.

You’re right but I’m happy with what I have. Don’t want to sell me EF L glass but I’m sure there are adapters for that too. Shoot a lot of film still. I have a Pellix, AE-1P, EF, New F-1, T70, 80, and 90. Three EOS film bodies too. I’ve had my right wrist rebuilt twice and have no strength in it. Film cameras are easier for me to use without a tripod. I can really only use my 100-400 L on a tripod now.
