It really depends on your intended purpose for the 2X converter. If you plan to display the pictures on the internet to be viewed on a computer monitor then you should get more than satisfactory results. If you know you’re going to want to print the pictures especially at a larger size such as 12 by 18 then you might not want to use one. Prints usually will reveal softness looking like blur more so than a smaller reduced size image on a computer screen. It’s a persons personal preference as to what you’re satisfied with. I think we sometimes place too much importance on sharpness of our photos. The subject we are shooting may require more or less detail. I’ve seen some beautiful landscapes with a soft focus . So if you’re pleased with the results, do it.

A few of the critters I saw on my visit.

Very nice and colorful collection. I’m sure going to miss this time of year soon.

Thanks for sharing these. I have not had the pleasure of seeing the Tbirds before. I did just recently see the Blue Angels here in Billings which was a nice treat.

Whatever the requirements are, exceed them. If they say 8 gigs of RAM do 16 instead. I know for myself, I’ve found my iMac needs the most I can give it.

Due to the shallow depth of focus with minimal subject areas within the focus plane it's difficult to really assess. The higher ISO also does not help evaluation either.

I have no doubt the f4 aperture is the reason it’s softer toward the back. F8mor even f11 would have been better. Is this a cropped Image ? It’s a pretty picture.

That’s an excellent example.

I came back from an Alaskan cruise recently and took pictures of the glaciers. I edited them using mostly Luminar for my camera pictures and Snapseed for my iPhone pictures.

Attached are two pictures of the Marjorie glacier. First picture was taken with my Fuji X-T2 24mp APS-C camera (using Luminar and then PSE to resize down to 14mb), and the second picture was taken with my iPhone 12 Pro Max 12mp camera (using Snapseed and then Luminar to adjust color temperature). Similar editing is obviously not exact, but I don't see much difference between the two.

Comments and feedback are welcome. To those of you who say iPhone cameras are not really cameras, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks.

Either of these are acceptable. The iPhone photo is edited to be more on the blue side , I’m guessing the white balance could easily fix that unless you prefer the blue tone and that’s okay too. Yes, cellphones do continue to impress. I’m not kidding myself about a cellphone replacing a DSLR though. I’m a wildlife photographer so a long 400 to 600 mm lens is pretty much mandatory. The bokeh I love is real with my Canon 6D MkII. I do however love the convenience of my iPhone. As long as I’m realistic about my expectations, I won’t be disappointed.

Thanks for the insight. I’m 67 and I certainly do relate. I love my Canon 100-400 on my Canon 6D. They produce very pleasing images. I have thought about going with something lighter but I don’t know how I could ever replace that lens. Your point about not giving up my equipment is a good one. I’d rather increase my strength than to switch. Anyway thanks and have a great day.

That’s great if that works well for you. I’m glad. I’m a bit more giving just because I like making people smile. If someone wants a portrait for framing I charge for what that involves. I’m not starving yet and I’ve made some good friends. I think I’ve achieved a good balance.

This is a really clean photo. If you did not say it was taken with an iPhone , nobody would suspect that. I sure do wish you the very best with your health.

These are some great photos. I am glad you shared them. With that said, its sad to see the dead elephant. I totally understand this is just one reality of wildlife and nature. Id have been delighted to have had this opportunity myself.

Use initials or last names. If I have multiple pictures of Bill for example I often use either numbers or letters after . It might be Bill Biggs 1, Bill Biggs 2 , Bill Biggs 3, etc.

My thoughts would be to edit the picture. If this was shot in RAW you would decrease highlights and boost shadows as much as needed. Most likely you would then need to bump up the saturation some. If it was shot in JPG you might still be able to bring up shadows some , maybe a little change in highlights. This is a good example of what happens when we shoot a high contrast photo where the cameras dynamic range is tested.
