So, this topic has been beaten to death and I'm almost hesitant at posting this. But I'll take the plunge!
The eclipse scheduled April 8, 2024 in the Dallas Fort Worth area is creating a huge buzz and people are asking for advice.
Not willing to spend a huge amount of $$ for just a few moments of sheer joy I looked at Amazon - my go to store.

Looking for some expert advice
So, I have a Sony A6000 and when I look at a spot it shows the controls around the screen as such:

However, if I were to try to adjust the settings the controls around the screen vanish as such:

The controls reappear in a second or so.
Yes, I did ‘RT’F’M’ to no avail!! The local camera store looked at me as if I had horns on my head.
If any of the learned members can help/advise I will be ever so grateful!!

Limited budget - hopefully I'll get one at a reasonable price.
Otherwise may not shoot the actual eclipse.
Had a very pleasant experience in Zanzibar in 1976/77 with the total eclipse - cannot forget that sight by the water and seeing the ocean receding just before the event and then the ocean coming back after the event.
See that the next one's in 2030.
