Well gollee, Mikee, you may have missed the statistics-wagon on this one.

Chances are the offender would most likely be a young black between the ages of 16 and 24 or an inner-city gang member between the ages of 12 to 30.

Most of the “deranged white guys” just carry sticks or knives. Or push shopping carts.

As for your comment of my knee jerk comments you so easily forget the gun rights problem for you was settled in 1789. That isn’t knee jerk on my part but total ignorance on your side.

As for SCOTUS you seem to be ignoring the FACTS. That highest court in the land has already ruled against laws trying to deprive Americans of semi auto rifles; had already agreed the 2nd Amendment gives We the People the individual right to keep and bear arms rather than a right only for m*****a members. Which is it, you don’t want to abide by the SCOTUS decisions or are you ignorant of those decisions? No mattet. SCOTUS supports the right of individuals to keep and bear arms.

Now if this doesn’t suit you then don’t keep and bear arms. But you have no right to take mine or keep me from buying more.

Try your best to be a big girl now and get over yourself.

A series of decisions by the Supreme Court (SCOTUS) have been made in regards weapons and the Second Amendment, dating from the 1800’s.

Gun Rights Supreme Court Cases

“[The] Second Amendment has become one of the most contested provisions of the U.S. Constitution. Its full text states that “a well regulated m*****a being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” For most of its history, the Supreme Court addressed the Second Amendment only occasionally and in relatively narrow circumstances. This changed in 2008 when the Court reviewed a challenge to a handgun ban in the District of Columbia.

Writing the majority opinion in District of Columbia v. Heller, Justice Antonin Scalia rejected the argument that the Second Amendment protects only a right to possess and carry a firearm in connection with m*****a service. Instead, Scalia found that the Second Amendment supports an individual right to possess guns and to use them for traditionally lawful purposes. A series of Supreme Court decisions since Heller has reaffirmed this broad understanding of gun rights under the Constitution. As a result, legislatures seeking to pass gun control measures for public safety purposes have seen their options shrink sharply.

Below is a se******n of Supreme Court cases involving gun rights, arranged from newest to oldest.”
:

New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen (2022). Author: Clarence Thomas
When the Second Amendment's plain text covers an individual's conduct, the Constitution presumptively protects that conduct. To justify a firearm regulation, the government must demonstrate that the regulation is consistent with the nation's historical tradition of firearm regulation.

1. Caetano v. Massachusetts (2016). Author: Per Curiam
The Second Amendment extends to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding, and this Second Amendment right is fully applicable to the states.

2. McDonald v. City of Chicago (2010). Author: Samuel A. Alito, Jr.
The Fourteenth Amendment incorporates the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms for the purpose of self-defense. (In other words, the right is protected from state as well as federal interference.)

3. District of Columbia v. Heller (2008). Author: Antonin Scalia
The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a m*****a, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.

4. Lewis v. U.S. (1980). Author: Harry Blackmun
Congress could rationally conclude that any felony conviction, even an allegedly invalid conviction, is a sufficient basis on which to prohibit the possession of a firearm.

5. U.S. v. Miller (1939). Author: James Clark McReynolds
In the absence of any evidence tending to show that possession or use of a “shotgun having a barrel of less than 18 inches in length” at this time has some reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well-regulated m*****a, a court cannot say that the Second Amendment guarantees the right to keep and bear such an instrument.{A short-barreled shotgun}.

6. Presser v. Illinois (1886). Author: William Burnham Woods
In view of the fact that all citizens capable of bearing arms constitute the reserved military force of the national government, as well as in view of its general powers, the states cannot prohibit the people from keeping and bearing arms so as to deprive the United States of their rightful resource for maintaining the public security. However, unless restrained by their own constitutions, state legislatures may enact statutes to control and regulate all organizations, drilling, and parading of military bodies and associations, except those that are authorized by the m*****a laws of the United States.

7. U.S. v. Cruikshank (1876). Author: Morrison R. Waite
The Second Amendment declares that the right to bear arms shall not be infringed, but this means no more than that it shall not be infringed by Congress. This is one of the amendments that has no other effect than to restrict the powers of the national government.

Decisions 1, 2, 3 and 6 are the most important from a citizen’s personal standpoint and clarify definitively the specifics of the Second Amendment.

Really? Numerous politicians and minions of the Biden administration and Biden himself (definitely non-conservative!) are currently pushing laws and restrictions that would BAN entire classes of guns and make possession an illegal and criminal act.
As well as promoting TAKING BY FORCE guns from law-abiding, mentally stable citizens of the country.

A reasoned, and reasonable reply. Thank you.

Although some liberals and many independents own and use weapons as needed, these same liberals and independents support and v**e for rabid-democrat senators and representatives who are dedicated to disarming citizens and disallowing defense of self, family and others.

From a guy who believes a fluff piece has some significance, you show yourself as part of the problem and not the solution. There are always naysayers who avoid the stats of good news, and say but, but, but and whatabout.

Look at the details:

No one is saying that there aren't portions of the economy that are struggling. Look at the reasons.

Home and car insurance at 20-30% renewal rates,

Beef prices up due to environmental issues.

Chicken and egg prices up due to Avian flu.

Rentals and home ownership costs are way too high due to shortage of housing and relatively high interest rates. (I bought our first home during 10-12% inflation rates so your boo hoo hoo about 7% doesn't phase me.)

There is very little that any administration can do to make immediate impact on any of those things.
From a guy who believes a fluff piece has some sig... (show quote)

Oh, I am quite aware of “fluff pieces” emanating from BOTH sides. Including the errant disinformation campaigns of those of the “Bidenesque” persuasion.

To examine your points further:

— “Home and car insurance at [+] 20 - 30% rates”
* The reason? Vehicles have been reassessed at outlandish prices due to a continuous up-pricing and repair-and-replacement costs.
”… car insurance goes up for seemingly no reason when you renew your policy, it's likely due to an increase in risk that's outside of your control. This could include reasons like increased claims in your area (due to more e*****e w*****r damage, more accidents, etc.) and higher car repair and replacement costs.”
https://www.progressive.com/answers/why-insurance-rates-go-up/

— “Beef prices are up due to environmental issues”
* Actually, environmental issues have little to do with beef (or chicken, swine or other commodity) prices — fuel and equipment costs, as well as loan-servicing costs (and insurance) have increased sale prices more-so than environmental degradation or weather, disasters, &c..
”What is causing the rise in beef prices? C****-** threw a curveball.
It caused a surge in the prices of key cattle feed ingredients like soy, corn, and wheat. As a result, farmers can't afford to support as many cattle, leading to scarcity and subsequently driving up beef prices. Dec 17, 2023”
https://www.thecommons.earth/blog/the-beef-with-beef-why-are-beef-prices-so-high#:

— “Chicken and egg prices are up due to avian flu”
* Avian flu, while a contributing factor, is not the sole reason for poultry-product increases. ” While bird flu is generally the main culprit for the price of eggs going up, there are other factors, such as the cost of labor and the high price of chicken feed.” https://money.usnews.com/money/personal-finance/spending/articles/why-are-eggs-so-expensive-right-now#:

— “Rentals and home ownership costs are way too high due to shortage of housing and relatively high interest rates . . . and a lack of affordable housing access.
(I bought our first home during 10-12% inflation rates so your boo hoo hoo about 7% doesn't phase me.)”

<<{Yeah, well goody-goody for you. I bought our first house with a mortgage rate of 14.7% WITH a VA ‘no-down’ approval. So what does this have to do with anything? NOTHING!}>>

* Several factors have contributed to the recent surge in Home and rental prices.
A). ”The sharp interest rate hikes over the past year continue to impact housing markets and affordability for both homeowners and renters across the US”,
B). ”Rising mortgage costs have pushed homeownership out of reach for millions of renters at a time when large numbers of millennial households are at prime homebuying ages and when homeownership disparities between white households and those of color are near historic highs.”,
C). ”Higher interest rates have also sparked a slowdown in the construction of new single-family homes, even as a nationwide housing shortage contributes to high housing costs.”,
D). ”First-time homebuying plummeted over the last year in response to the increased cost of homeownership. Between March 2022 and March 2023, payments on the median-priced home shot up from $2,500 to $3,000 as the annual interest rate on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages jumped from 4.2 percent to 6.5 percent. The result was a 22 percent annual decline in the number of mortgages originated to first-time homebuyers in 2022, including a year-over-year drop in the fourth quarter of nearly 40 percent, as over 2.4 million potential homebuyers were priced out of homeownership.”,
E). ”Single-family housing starts dropped 10.8 percent last year, raising concerns about the nation’s large and ongoing housing shortfall. Similarly, in the existing home market, just 970,000 homes were available for purchase in March 2023, 42 percent less than in 2019. On the other hand, multifamily construction continued to rise in 2022 even as rental demand softened. Indeed, nearly 1 million multifamily units were under construction in early 2023, the highest rate in almost 50 years”.
F). ”The outlook: As p******c-era assistance programs wind down, housing remains prohibitively costly for millions of households. More lower-cost housing is clearly needed, but expanding development will require zoning reform to support a broader range of housing types and investments in off-site construction methods that could reduce costs. . . .” https://www.jchs.harvard.edu/blog/home-prices-and-rents-remain-high-steep-interest-rates-lock-homeowners-in-place

”It hasn’t been cheap to buy a house in decades, if ever, but the P******c Housing Boom started a huge run-up in prices as remote and hybrid work expanded the map for millions of Americans—many of them millennials entering peak homebuying age. The Zoom towns boomed, and prices followed.” https://fortune.com/2023/10/09/housing-market-prices-affordability-mortgage-rates-real-estate-home-income/#

* Millennials are now reaching the “family” stage of life, and the demand for housing has increased proportionately.

* Another reason is the notable exodus from states like New Jersey, California, New York, and others with consistently liberal and socialistic Democrat administrations. People are removing themselves in droves, and relocating in less “controlling” areas.
(Some problems arise when the relocatees want or demand similar “amenities” or “services” that were available where they lived previously).

Sorry I’m really late to the thread, but the phrase ‘inflation is coming down’ is either ignorant or deceptive. Inflation is a measure of the rate at which prices are increasing. Seeing the inflation stats at lower numbers means only that the increase in prices is less rapid. That the inflation stats are lower than a few months back is not ‘good’ news, but rather only less severe bad news. Imagine it in a different setting: “Good news Mr Doe. Your brain tumor is still inoperable, but it is growing more slowly than it was six weeks ago.”
