Hi thanks for that information, what i cant get my head around is the fact my canon EF 75-300 1:4-5.6 lens works with the kenko 1.4x and will autofocus. If i fit the canon EF 100-4001:4.5-5.6L IS to the canon 1.4x it refused to auto.

Yes in the past my idea of focus and reality seemed to differ hense the joy of auto focus. Also i do mainly aviation photography and its so much easier with auto

Thanks, i was really hoping to maintain autofocus with the 1.4x, but seems unlikely from what ive been told, it just seems the 1200d isnt powerful enough

I have also tried both extenders on a 5D mk2 and a mk3, all working on the mk3not the mk2, i have fiddled with the settings on the mk 2 but cant get autofocus

One option for consideration is the Kenko Teleplus HDPro 1.4X extender. It doesn't electronically change the signaled aperture, so the camera thinks the aperture is the reported lens aperture.

As such it will allow focusing at the effective f/8 aperture on an f/5.6 lens.

It doesn't alter the real effects of an extender - reduced light and slower AF, but it does work. And when I compare with my Canon 1.4X I don't notice a quality difference.

Hi i actually bought a kenko teleplus pro 300 before the canon version, now i have 2 that wont work on my eos 1200d

Thanks Paul
I bought from someone that confirmed it was working fine on his body (5d) so i stupidly assumed it worked on my 1200D, my mistake, it looked OK in the compatibility chart, just not the body, but i didnt know this
