i have found excellent condition brand name tripods, cameras and lenses at Unclaimed Baggage stores
They are normally priced at least 50% less than Amazon.
Great thing is when you spot an item you can price compare instantly with your cellphone.

Thank you Robert.

It should be noted that all states require motorists to “stop, look, and listen” at all railroad crossings whether there are barrier arms present or activated or Not

Electricity may be disrupted and thus barrier and lights may not work but motorists is still responsible

Driver manual contains this information
Unfortunately most policeman are not aware either

Probably a GPS tracker with a bit of memory. Since these are endangered the migration patterns are followed by Fish and Wildlife.

You are absolutely correct
We have 12 Whoopers this year at Joe Wheeler Wildlife Refuge in Decatur, Alabama

Fish and Wildlife track them all over the country

Headquarters will not disclose their exact location so we have to work for the sightings and photos

Beautiful birds

Hello all,
I've lurked on this site for awhile now, but this is
For BIF photos: do you use a tripod at/near eye height? (for me that would be 67-68")
Any suggestions on a ball head that birders have found useful. Do any of you use a Wimberely "sidekick" for BIF pics?
I don't intend any back country trips with this tripod. It's mainly for stability (for big lenses) that I will set-up in a hunting blind (where I can stand or sit). Let's shoot for $2000 (+ or - $300).
It's great to see how helpful and encouraging everyone is on this forum. I thank you all for the great discussions and advice so freely shared.

Hello all, br I've lurked on this site for awhile ... (show quote)

I too have lurked a long time but felt compelled to add my experiences on your query. I am 6’3” and with a terrible back due to choice of occupations: law enforcement, EMT-Paramedic, and now even though retired from those occupations I am a legal Investigator providing attorney services. In other words crawling into and under wrecked vehicles, ditches, and difficult terrain and photographing all genres. My first three tripods were aluminum Manfrottos which are still in use. I purchased these too short but stable pods from Unclaimed Baggage store about 70 miles away. I do not recommend center columns because they are not stable. But I invested only $400.00 in these three.
I researched tripods for the last year as I do intend to move to more recreational photography. I received delivery on my choice two weeks ago and I have been practicing with it and ready to launch.
I was able to snare a BH-55 ballhead on eBay a month ago for $360.00 and can’t find a scratch on it.
I settled on a Robus CF 8880. Brand new in a substantial bag, spikes, 75mm bowl, three replacement regular rubber screw in feet, large rubber feet for interior use; all accessories are included. Bought from B&H for just over $800.00. More than competitive with RRH and Promedia, Gitzo, and they are priced at $1150-$1349 plus tax. One can purchase a center column accessory for the Robus.
My back is loving the different heights I can dial in. I have all Nikon: D7200, D810 and D850 with a gamut of lenses.
I use a gimbal with and especially for the Nikon 200-500. This tripod is stable stable stable and fit and workmanship is excellent. I recommend also you tube videos that expound on this company and their offerings.

I certainly understand a shutter might "quit". Curious to hear if any UHH members have actually replaced one - what camera - it's final shutter count.

Thanks for indulging me.
Stay safe & well.

I had a Nikon 7000 that constantly had issues for one week and I traded it to a camera repairman for other equipment
Low shutter count of less than 1,000
I then found out that model was notorious with that issue
I bought a Nikon 7200 which I still use and added a d810 and a d850
All three trouble free
Good luck
