Thanks, Mark, for another of your inspired offerings. A comment on Sarah's performance, her superb diction. When I listen to the Jazz and big band singers of the 40's, 50's and 60's I can hear every word they sing, but this is not always so with contemporary singers of the same genre. Why is this so? On your recommendation I became a fan of Tuba Skinny. I love the blues singing of Erika Lewis but so often I can't hear the words she sings. Finally, I think you should start a radio programme of Jazz and big band music; it would be a sure fire hit.

With relations like yours the virus will be neutralised. Your blood supply will be sterile and kill off any bug which dares to enter you body. Hope Santa remembers to bring you a good supply of paracetamol.

To those of you who are really planning to flout the Coronavirus restrictions, bear in mind the dedication of doctors, like my eldest grandson and his wife, together with nurses, who put their own health on the line as they treat those who have been infected wth the virus.

Mark, you did it again! Thank you so much for your info on Andrea Motis Trio. I had not encountered them before your posting, but really enjoyed their music. I will follow the trio from now on, because they know how to swing. The whole trio is so talented, and Andrea's singing and trumpet playing is delightful. My soul has been uplifted just listening to the music and we need this in the difficult days through which we are passing. Keep safe and well, my friend. Peter.

I had a cataract removed, and a new lens fitted on 5th. September. I attended the hospital with some apprehension, because psychologically, the thought of someone poking about in an organ as sensitive as ones eye is not an attractive proposition. My fears were groundless. I was at the hospital for two hours, most of which was taken up by the administering of drops to dilate the pupil, and anaesthetic drops. The actual surgery took 10 minutes. I was told that I would feel no pain, but possibly a little pressure during surgery. In fact I neither felt any pain or pressure. I have had no discomfort, post op. and the sight in my right eye has improved beyond expectation. My optician has allowed me to drive without glasses. I have just arranged for an operation on my left eye for 23 rd September. Go for it my fellow hogger!

Bill Evans was one of those musicians who had an innate feeling for the music he was playing: the first track on Walz for Debbie transmits the bitter sweetness of My Foolish Heart rarely captured by other jazz pianists.
This is an album I missed. Thanks for bringing it to my attention Mark.
I've enjoyed all your other offerings, so keep them coming Mark.

A friend of mine landed on Sword Beach, Normandy on the first day. On leaving his landing craft an officer told his men, "Get off the beach, or die on the beach" A sentence to concentrate the mind!

Hi Richard. I noticed your hat in the army reserve photo, and your Sidney location. I have relatives in Australia, as my aunt Edith, an army nurse, married an Australian soldier who was wounded in WW1. Uncle Burt returned to, Adelaide in 1919, and they raised their family there. In 1948, aunt Edith's brother, Len, took his family to Adelaide as they were sponsored by Burt and Edith. Burt, Edith. Len and his wife Nell have long gone but Alan, one of Len's sons, remains in Melbourne with his wife Betty, their four daughters and their families. So thank you once more from another veteran - 1952 to 1954 - and our Australian connection.
Peter.

Richard, are the submitted images enhances in any way,or straight from the camera? At this stage of my photographic journey I am recording jpegs straight out of the camera, and even taking into consideration the huge gap in our abilities, my images are not even in the same league are yours.

Thanks Richard. I will study your comments and photographs. The images are stunning and I cling on by my finger tips that one day I might capture acceptable images, but when, oh when, will I be able to replicate images like yours?

You are quite right Mark, we do need a little levity in these difficult times, and I enjoyed your two jokes.

Your contribution inspired me to tell this true story. Last summer I took a coach tour holiday, and as we travelled along a doual carriageway we passed a large cemetery. Using the p.a. system the driver told us to look for a break in the tree lined side of the cemetary where we would see the grave of the person who, devised the crossword puzzle. On reaching the spot we were asked if we had seen the grave and on receiving a united "No" the driver replied "There it is, seven down, four across".- Hoots of laughter!

I, too, am long retired, and, for the time being, spared the anguish of worrying about unpaid bills. Hope you, and many others, will soon be back at work as the Coronavirus is overcome. In the mean time your lovely photographs will give a lift to everyone.
