The OM-1 has a 20mp sensor, not 24, but it’s also not similar in AOV to the ASP-C crop. Now that AOV is based on the diagonal measurement of the sensor, so although the the crop factor for APS-C is 1.5 and the M4/3 is 2 they have different aspect ratios. 3:2 vs 4:3. So the ASP-C would natively print to 8x12 the M4/3 would natively print to 9x12. So any additional cropping to a different aspect ratio would have to be taken into account.

AP has just released a major upgrade available free on their website to current users, as is their policy. It's version 1.10.0.1127.

Also regarding Affinity Photo I ran across an article on PetaPixel on the subject of best alternatives to Photo Shop and the choice in the best overall category was AP (there were seveal other categorie with different bests). The review is at https://petapixel.com/2021/05/27/the-best-adobe-photoshop-alternatives/. Unlike some of the posts on AP on this forum in the past there was very high praise for this app.

Every time there are posts about wedding photography on this forum, there is always some sort of negativism or complaint about the entire genre and industry. Stories of incompetent wedding photographers, substandard work, and wedding horror stores fill the threads.

I have been involved in wedding photography and wedding fashion photography for well over 50 years and I just don't see any of this bad work. In my own work and in training new wedding shooters I stress lighting and posing techniques that render the utmost detail in every stitch of white wedding gowns. I have NEVER had a client ask for washed-out images with vacant whites or anything related to overexposure. I have never had a bride, a bridal salon, a couturier client, or an ad agency ask for such imagery.

Yes, there is some rough stuff out there but it is not the work of experienced professionals.

Sometimes folks opine of stuff they know nothing about- I hate when that happens.

If the stuff you are talking about is that bad- show me!

Hi everyone. I just purchased the R5 and the 24-70 R lens. The camera store has given me 30 days to decide on purchasing their extended three year warranty from the date of purchase. It is with www.mackcam.com. The brochure says it will cover product failure, parts and labor. Three repairs for the same reason and it's replaced, no deductibles, covers parts and labor. Lemon Protection, accidental coverage. Starts the date of purchase. Cost is approximately $400 and $300 for camera and lens. I will not be a penny wise, pound foolish person with this new camera investment, but wanted to hear opinions/advise from others. Thanks so much.

Also, setting up the Camera... I'm not seeing many tutorials for this new camera.

Thanks.

Has anyone bought a camera from WISH? Typically they sell lots of cheap Chinese stuff, some decent laptops, tablets, fishing gear etc. I have bought stuff from them in the past. Slow delivery but great prices. Lately they’ve started listing some pretty decent if not outrageous deals on cameras, lenses etc.

Just wondering if anyone’s bought any photo gear from them.

Thanks all

As you say sloooow delivery, never again the last time it took 3 1/2 months.

Kodak Ektar 100
Camera - Canon EOS 1v with lenses - EF 35mm f/1.4L, EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II, and EF 16-35mm f/4L IS
Processing and scanning by North Coast Photography Services of Carlsbad, CA

Fred A. Busse: Chicago Fire Boat by Paul Sager, on Flickr

Ektar started as a color 35mm semi-professional film introduced by Eastman Kodak in 1989, which used the common C-41 process. Poor market segmentation between various formats influenced Kodak's decision to discontinue Ektar in 1994. The film was replaced by the Royal Gold line. Prior to its use on films, the Ektar name originally referred to Eastman Kodak's premium-priced lenses for professional use, introduced in 1936 and sold until the 1960s. The name Ektar is an acronym for Eastman Kodak TessAR. A new pro-grade film was introduced in September 2008 under the name Kodak EKTAR 100, which claims to be the finest-grain color negative film available on the market, featuring high saturation and vivid colors.

The 35L is a popular prime lens for photojournalism, street photography and weddings. The focal length does not distort as much as other wider offerings. The large aperture is good for dim light, and the low distortion is good for group portraits.

The Gentlemen Statues

The Eastman Kodak Company was found by George Eastman in 1888, Kodak followed the razor and blades strategy of selling inexpensive cameras and making large margins from consumables -- film, chemicals, and paper. As late as 1976, Kodak commanded 90% of film sales and 85% of camera sales in the U.S. market.

Introduced in 2000 as Canon's top-line professional 35mm film camera, the EOS 1v was Canon's final 1-series film camera and was then the most advanced EOS camera created. The camera features a 45-point auto-focus array, including 7 cross-point sensors around the center of the frame. The camera records 20 attributes of metadata for each frame, including focal length, shutterspeed, and shooting mode among the many attributes. Using a third-party tool, this EXIF data can be extracted from the EOS body and applied to the scanned JPEGs from the processed negatives.

Ducks on the Mag Mile

The film is scanned to a high pixel resolution of 5035 x 3339 (17MP) JPEGs, then processed in Adobe Lightroom 6.

Paul that is some wonderful color pictures, I don’t shoot much film anymore but thank you for posting, do you still shoot with EOS 1v? It’s a great camera I’ve always wanted one even now they still command a hefty price for a mint one.

I'm planning three projects. I'm installing a couple of fans in my Dell, and I'm replacing the hard drive with an SSD. On the other side of the room, I'm making a backup system for my son's computer. I ordered everything from Amazon a couple of weeks ago, and I've received some of what I need for each project, but not enough to do anything. The rest of the parts should arrive on Friday, hopefully. It's like they planned it that way.

I hope Amazon gets back on track soon. Prime or not, everything is taking close to two weeks to get here. When I asked them about this, they said that Prime guarantees two-day shipping, but they're not even doing that. I'll get an email telling me an item was shipped, but it will take eight days to get to me. B&H shipped to me in two days.

I'm not complaining here. I've come to accept slow deliveries, but I think it's funny that I got partial deliveries for three projects. As a matter of fact, I've changed my mind about ordering some things because I knew it would take up to two weeks to get them. It beats driving from store to store trying to find what I want, though.

I watched a TV show about denim. A town in France named Nimes combined different color threads to produce what we now call denim. Why "denim"?

"Nîmes is historically known for its textiles. Denim, the fabric of blue jeans, derives its name from this city (Serge de Nîmes)." "de Nimes" became "denim."

Funny I thought Levi Strouse invented denim wow learn something new every day thks Jerry.
