Has anyone bought a camera from WISH? Typically they sell lots of cheap Chinese stuff, some decent laptops, tablets, fishing gear etc. I have bought stuff from them in the past. Slow delivery but great prices. Lately they’ve started listing some pretty decent if not outrageous deals on cameras, lenses etc.

Just wondering if anyone’s bought any photo gear from them.

Thanks all

Why on earth would anyone wonder that ? I am assuming you have not been living under a rock.

Don't even consider WISH.
Yea, after doing some reading online, it looks like Wish is some cheap online store out of China (http://www.wsj.com/articles/wish-a-direct-from-china-shopping-app-lures-bargain-hunters-1431909072). Too good to be true. And you know about that.

In addition to that delivery times are getting longer and longer. Please don’t do that.

If at all possible, avoid buying anything from China.
I bought a live trap from a company I thought was Starlight 7. It turned out to be Wish.
I didn't realize it was from China until I hit the proceed to check out /submit button. I wondered why my estimated delivery date was going to take a month, then I noticed that the item was being shipped from China. I ordered in mid May and I finally received my trap a few days ago. It might serve the purpose but I will not be ordering from them again.

I have never heard of WISH. With that being written, I will visit a website I have heard of before. Since there is a questionable website, I strongly recommend going to a website I know is being watched closely. If it is too difficult to watch, move onto another website.

You are in a hobby that can be expensive. Want to save money? Buy refurbished. But use reputable retailers or eBayers with great reviews and move on. And further, I do not trust much from China, especially a vendor. I’ve been there and witnessed first hand the depth of illicit sales of counterfeit goods. It is an unregulated mess.

Really. No, would have been a decent response. Yours was just demeaning.

I have purchased plenty of stuff from Wish (mostly cheap fountain pens) - but never a camera.

For the most part the quality is hit or miss, some of it is very good, some of it is total crap. Shipping times can be long (it literally comes on the slow boat from China), but it will get here eventually.

I have never gotten anything that was counterfeit, but some things were better described as a 'clone' of another product. Enough differences where it was obvious that it was not an original, but a close replica.

My concern with a camera is that it would definitely be a grey market version.

As others said, the equipment would not have a USA warranty.
Canon is Canon or what ever brand camera so regardless of vendor you will get that camera/lens (Eventually).
You perhaps might verify the original package has not been stripped of charger, battery etc. and that sold separately. Also ensure the battery is OEM as well as the charger etc. and has not been swapped out.
But there are no copies of the cameras or lenses that I know of though.
Try and see if you have been dealing with them.

I cannot understand how in this world with excellent and reputable dealers in this country you want to risk your money buying from companies that handle lots of Chinese stuff. Are you sure you want to do that?
There are many reputable dealers in this country and B&H and Adorama are among the most popular. I have used MPB for used stuff in the past with great satisfaction on my part. All these dealers will be behind you in case you buy something that is not to your satisfaction.

Use common sense and save money in the long run.

Penny wise and Pound foolish. Sell your soul and use the $ to buy from the Chinese. Support American sellers.
