Very imaginative Val; you've got onto something quite creative there. Must be that invigorating Cornish air? (had a terrific time in your neck of the woods recently, by the way. Fabulous!)

Thank you Paul Glad you like them and thanks for looking and commenting. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay over here and hope the weather was good to you. We did have some rain a while ago....

Yes you are correct, full body composites are truly difficult especially when you do not know what the background will be at the time of creation of the foreground image.

I appreciate you pointing out the flaws though I was pretty much already aware of them. What would be really helpful would be if you could actually offer a solution on fixing the issues along with pointing out the flaws.

As I noted in the post this is a learning project for me so anyone with experience in it I am more than open to hearing solutions
Thanks
Bobby
Yes you are correct, full body composites are trul... (show quote)

Hi Bobby When I put a figure into another scene I make a new layer behind them and with a soft edged brush and black I paint in the shadow under the feet to where I think it should be, I then take the opacity down till it fits as in a hard shadow or a soft one depending on what you want. You can refine it with a soft brush eraser. When I am happy with it I merge the two layers and they can be moved as one if needed... Your shadows behind the man were fine. Val

Good pictures, but for me nos 1 & 2 he looks to be floating, I know you put the shadow in but there is nothing to anchor him to the ground as there would be a slight shadow under the feet. In no 4 the light on his chest does not fit in with the background as there would be light behind him with the amount of light reflected on his sword...and his front foot looks to be floating.

Continuing to practice. Similar lighting to the previous setup, but the main light is almost directly above. Second shot is a close crop of same image in high-contrast B&W. I believe it helps to emphasize every line, wrinkle, age mark and scar, carefully earned during a life well lived. Feel free to tell me what I've done poorly, and how to improve.

I like no 2, it is just a wee bit tight on the crop for me, gives it a whole new look from no 2.

I stood there quietly for about 10 minutes watching them on the mudflats. Any time I moved they would take flight. Then when I stopped they would land again! Fun to watch and even more fun when you have a camera! Thanks!

What very obliging birds you have, great way to get pictures.
