The ideal aircraft to shoot from is a Cessna with its high wing. The only thing you need to worry about is keeping away from the struts, which isn't too difficult with a good pilot. If it is a Cessna, I have simply removed the phillips head screw holding the window arm onto the window prior to taking off. Once you are in the air you can open the window all the way up to the wing allowing plenty of room for manuvering the camera in almost any direction. Remember one thing though, the wind is going to be passing by the window at about 100 miles an hour so make sure the strap is around your neck and you hold on to the camera! I always push the ISO to about 800 to make sure I can get a reasonable shutter speed of at least 1/250th if not more. Since you will be shooting from several hundred feet (Need to keep the FAA happy...) you don't really need to worry about stopping down too far on the f stop. Using around f 8 or so seems to work just fine. As everyone else has already stated, don't rest your hands or camera on the airplane. You will pick up the aircraft vibrations. Have fun! Taking photos from an aircraft is a rewarding, fun experience many don't ever get to experience. IF you can, take some photos as the sun is going down like the one attached. Lots of possibilites....

Thanks. I have two lime green 70 cuda's. one is a 340 six pak (AAR) that I have owned for 35 years, and an all original 440 6 pak, 4 speed super trac pak car that is way cool. I also have a black TA challenger and a 66 Belvedere my grant her bought new.
Thanks for the current reference point. I figured I couldn't get anywhere near what I paid for it....
I have a new in box Nikon mount Tamron SP AF 17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II VC lens for sale. My brother bought it for me at Dodd Camera in Cleveland and it is not what I asked for. They wouldn't let me return it so I am selling it. I paid $673.43 with tax on June 18, 2013 and it is still in the box and the 6 year warranty has not been filled in or sent to Tamron. So, even though it is new, technically I guess you could say it is used but has only been out of the box to inspect it. I will listen to any reasonable offer before I put it on ebay. Thanks.
Here are a few of my random sunset photos.

Beautiful composition. That would also look spectacular in black and white with all the different tonality and contrast.
As a kid I collected all things of photographic nature and I too have several glass negatives and never thought of scanning them. Great idea..
Thanks. I'll post mine when I do.
