Thanks to both.

Someone said I needed to ask for C&C. Forgot to do that.

This is the West Spanish Peak in southern Colorado. Along with the East Spanish Peak, these mountains have served as landmarks for travels since ... Well, they've been there awhile anyway.

No post processing. Just straight from the Sony bridge camera in JPEG.

Cucharared, regarding "Non DSLR user": It really doesn't matter what camera you have, as long as you know how to use it. (Ansel Adams' camera was basically a box with a lens on it.) Yes, DSLRs have more options and versatility, but my Sony H-1 does a great job also! Keep shooting!

I'll definite keep shooting. I'm beginning to post photos for feedback - already starting to learn.

Love this forum.

Griz - I re-read your last post where you said what all you used in PSE to alter the photo. Thanks! Looks like I've not even scratched the surface.

Griz - thanks, that does look better. Guess it's time to get into PSE more seriously. Gotta love your avator.

Linda (and Griz) - will check out the Post Processing forum.

David - no prob picking on me/it. I held a sheet of paper over the top of the photo and it does look better with less sky.

I'll be posting more photos so I expect to be learning from all you guys (and ladies).

thanks all,
ron

Thanks. I really like this chunk of rock and have taken many photos of it. The colors were outstanding on this particular day. This outcropping is part of a hogback that supposedly runs from lower Colorado (or further south) up into the Dakotas, but not always above ground. It's really keen in the hwy 12 area.

Definite slope up there. I'm not sure there is anything you could call level ground. Adjusting the pic just wouldn't be right (if I understood you correctly).

No PP on this. I have PSElements but don't do much with it except crop and remove red eye. I've done a little color and contrast playing around but am definitely a rookie in this department.

My camera spits out JPG only. All my pics have great color and contrast on the camera's LCD but always disappoint on my computer screen.

Here's another pic along hwy 12 in Colorado, just a few miles south of the Devil's Staircase. I think I've included the metadata info this time.

Remember, this is from a superzoom bridge camera with it's itty-bitty sensor.

Sorry about that. I haven't even checked my profile to see what it says. Guess I'd best take care of housekeeping.
Meanwhile, I'm in Texas, but the photo was made in Colorado (south central).

Thanks guys. I'll check the "store original" next time and see if it makes any difference.

OK, so I see this isn't as nice as I thought. At least it worked.

This is a photo taken looking south on Hwy 12- The Highway of Legends. I'm using my only decent camera, a Sony HX200V superzoom bridge. It was taken a couple of years ago and only the metadata knows what settings were used.

This is my first attempt to upload a photo so ...

Ow - now that was just mean.

To OP - as a car lover I'd have to agree that I prefer the original so I can appreciate what past hands have wrought.
