We were coming back with a load of groceries and stopped to get a shot of these clouds. They were in the exact location we were headed and we didn't have a clue what we'd find when we got there. Whatever it was it was over when we got there. Nada.

Well, that's what we call these little guys. Abert squirrel is the correct name and we have them in the grey/white phase and the black phase, both from the same family. There are tons of them in the San Isabel forest near us.

Love your 'West Peak' very powerful.

Thank you very much. Mainly a case of being in the right place at the right time. God did the rest.

I wanna know how you got the rabbit to sit still enough to tie the straw collar around his/her neck. :)

I hope he's not going to go in that smokehouse! Might mess up the flavor of the meats inside.

Impressive focus. We feed these little critters so I'm always taking shots of them with my little Sony bridge. Nothing ever comes out as sharp as this regardless of how close I am, what ISO, shutter speed, or aperture I use. Duh, guess that's got to be at least part me but a lot having to do with sensor size and camera quality. At least I hope it is.

Really, really nice. And, I admire your willingness to get up and out early enough to get this shot. Well worth it.

Fantastic shots! The detail is incredible. Since the a6000 is high on my list of possibles your photos really help me.

What are the chances that you would do side-by-side shots of something using the Sigma 30mm and your kit 16-50mm set for 30mm, just so us neophytes could compare the sharpness of the two lenses?

Thanks again.

I just bought the 150-600 lens and am beginning to think my eyes and ambition are way bigger than my ability. It's very heavy and cumbersome for me. I'm really afraid of dropping it and am ordering a Cotton Carrier to use for hikes with it. My camera store people said they would not trust it on a monopod, while birders I know say yes. I can use a tripod, but that will get heavy quickly. Thought?? Monopod or no? Thanks for your advice.

Nope - you are obviously out of your league with this lens. You need to pack it up immediately and send it to me so I can see if it's out of my league also.

When can I expect delivery?

If you post a picture, click on "store original" and ask for help or C and & each time. Learn on your computer how to see the camera settings. Here is a camera simulator to play with. David

Love that simulator. It may be one of the best things I've seen to help me understand the relationships in the exposure triangle and how they can be affected by the focal length and other factors.
Thank you!!

Oh, now I see. I thought a single aperture lens (e.g. f2.8 vs f3.5-5.6) meant it was always at that size opening. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

I also appreciate that answer. I didn't have a clue...

I'm a former teacher. I didn't teach any of the "English" type courses, having moved from science to industrial arts because I enjoyed it more. BUT, somewhere along the line I was taught that spelling needed to be correct if you wanted to communicate what you meant. And, I was taught that there were several words that had several different spellings and meanings and that those also needed to be used in the proper manner. I also was taught to use complete sentences. And, my cursive was readable.

Granted, I tend to shorten my sentences now and my writing has become a mixture of cursive and printing. BUT, I still strive to use the proper word and proper spelling and it irks me to no end how so many forum users (not nearly as prevalent on UHH, which says something I think) don't seem to even notice that they sound almost illiterate if not ignorant and maybe even stupid. Most don't seem to know that it's easy to re-read what they wrote to see if it makes sense and make corrections (duh-they don't know there's a delete key?). The unwritten rule seems to be that everyone else is supposed to ignore this failing - just as long as you can figure out what the poor bloke is trying to say then you're not supposed to do any correcting. That's just wrong somehow.

Then comes texting with all its abbreviations and shorthand. I understand the why - I hate trying to text a message using my numeric keypad. But, this whole situation is simply KILLING spelling, complete sentences, and "proper English". The absolute worse is for one of these textsters to get onto a forum and start their abbreviated lousy sentences. Try using spell check on that. It's a vicious circle and we're spiraling down the drain.

Well, I apologize for what turned into a rant. But I do feel a little better. And, I feel better just being on a forum where most responses are intelligent, well worded, and don't leave you wondering, "What the...?".
