Fixed means that the aperture doesn't very with the focal length.

If it is a 100mm lens the focal length doesn't change.

Fixed 100mm versus something that zooms.

OK. NOTHING is happening to photography. The correct question is: What is happening to photographers? ;)

Hi my friends - I've been absent from the site for a few months trying to get my head around all of this. I read today that images of people created by AI cannot be distinguished from real photographs.......

When painting supplies improved and oil paint in colors came in tubes, some artists still compounded their own paint.

How much you buy into what I refer to as "assisted photography" is your decision.

If you are in commercial competition with other photographers, you need to assess your tools. [A commercial product photographer I know stopped using his medium format film gear when it became obvious that clients wanted shots fast and were happy with digital quality.]

If you are an avid amateur who loves to compete in photo contests, maybe that too.

But as far as "personal photography" is concerned, I am reminded of the old Jewish saying, "Whatever people think of you is none of your business!"

Use the gear you like and works for you.

The NENZI looks like a reasonable starter camera for a teen.

She may to be a "V-logger."

The camera is full of lies. It is no 4K, no real zoom, no real controls, bad mic, etc.

It is from a sub-strata of the Chinese camera industry that is taking 15 year old technology and slapping in a plastic body with added metal weights to add heft. Different names and shapes, same camera. Junk.

Also the sellers have zero concern for any warranty. They do not care and probably have never tried the camera.

A used Canon A1200 for $35 would blow it out of the water.

The NEZINI 4K digital camera is an utter piece of crap. There are a dozen of the same Chinese cheapo out there with different names which is really a 5 MP fixed focus digital zoom camera phone/tablet circuit in a camera body. The stated 48K resolution is simple grossly overdone interpolation.

Most of the menu choices do nothing. How can there be face-tracking on a fixed focus camera? Smile detection, ec. do not work.

I found a few for $10-$20 used and they are box cameras with a certain appeal to the "toy camera" set.
But you cannot set the shutter speed or aperture as these are not much better than carnival prizes or time share pitch gifts.

For the person who wants a digital Instamatic 126, they can be fun.

Sometimes, being reminded of what simple good behavior consists of is very useful.

I began watching a horror movie last night - "A Haunting in Savannah." It was supposedly based on real events, and it was filmed in the house that was supposedly haunted.

The 1970's version of 'The Legend Of Hell House' is my fav.

We just got back from touring Europe and we probably saw at the most 10 people shooting with interchangeable lens cameras! Everyone else was using smartphones.

In 1966 you would write Everyone was using Instamatics!

In 1972 it would be pocket 110 cameras!

Simple snapshot uses always outnumber enthusiast camera users.

Plus, camera phones do the job well for many these days.

I believe there is a slight difference between modifying a sophisticated camera with simple optics and using one of these oddballs for the day. More of attitude than results. Same camera with the included WA aux lens.

I call it "How you can tell when summer is over in Minnesota!"
