Using Chrome as a browser on a MacBook Pro, with the EXIF Viewer extension I can see the basic camera and lens info by just moving the curser over images.

There was a story on the Washington Post website last weekend about someone who sent in for a DNA kit and it came back with the results that the person (with both parents Irish) was nearly half Jewish.

After a multi-year search of many different records, the conclusion that was reached was that in 1913 a NYC hospital must have swapped two babies, the birth certificates were signed by the same doctor and numbered consecutively. When the person met up with a biological cousin she didn't know existed, they looked like sisters.

See https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2017/lifestyle/she-thought-she-was-irish-until-a-dna-test-opened-a-100-year-old-mystery/?utm_term=.79a352f944d2

My wife's sister got a DNA test a while back, although the story within her family has always been that there was some American Indian blood in the family from the 1800's, it came back with no report of American Indian DNA.

I've been tempted to do a test. According to my mother, there may be a half-brother out there from my father from when he lived in North Carolina, she was never very clear on the story. My father left in the 1950's when I was about 5. I don't remember him at all. According to ancestry.com it appears he died in the LA area in around 1987.

English has hundreds of local and cultural dialects. It takes more effort and thought to decipher and understand them all than to speak and write the standard prose taught in college. But it's well worth it when we find the message and forgive the medium.

The self-appointed grammar police are well-intentioned souls, but they engage in a fruitless endeavor when speaking outside of classrooms, or to anyone but their own kids. In fact, they're offensive.

I just caught the end of the clear weather here in NorCal on the night of the new moon. This is taken in an area called Panoche Hills, which shows up on Dark Sky finder, about 2 hours from San Jose.

The thing I like about it most is that the stars are pretty well in focus. I was successful (I think) at using Live View at 10x to focus on Venus.
The lens was a Sigma 20mm f/1.4, wide open, shutter speed 25 seconds, eight exposures stitched together in Lightroom. ISO 4000. LR did a pretty nice job on noise reduction, I think.
I removed an airplane trail in Photoshop.

Anyway, my dog sure likes going on night adventures :D

That's a beautiful photo! Well done from the captures to the finished result! I wish we had some dark sky in SoCal!

I was out cruising the West side of the Laramie Basin and stopped by a familiar lake to await opportunities as the light changed. This fisherman caught my attention as the lighting got really interesting. He was totally absorbed in his activity as was I.
Nikon D750, 24-120 f4 @65mm, 1/400s and ISO 200. Lightly processed with single shot HDR to bring out highlight detail and darken the shadows.

"Knee Deep in Serenity" really describes the scene, as you did with your photo!

Oh wow! I'd not heard about this. It will definitely wind up on my phone and iPad (if available for the iPad). Thank you for the information.

You're welcome. I have it on a Samsung Android phone and an iPad. The website says it's compatible with iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Android.

Thank you - all my bird books are boxed up right now. We are awaiting new furniture. It had better arrive soon as I cannot find anything right now.

This app works great. I took a picture of my computer screen with your picture on it, and the app on my phone instantly identified it as a ruddy turnstone as the others said.
