This lens (US serial number) has been a workhorse in my landscape kit. I have replaced it with the f2.8 FL version. The 9 condition reflects the wearing of the gold lettering you can see in the picture along with a worn lens cap. Other than that, it looks perfect along with the glass and mechanical function. Zoom is smooth and auto focus is snappy. It takes a Nikon 1.4 tele with little loss of IQ.

I am including the original box, tripod collar, lens caps and hood. Also here is a replacement hood that screws onto the included Mefoto CPL filter. In addition there is a B+W 6-stop ND filter. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/752890-REG/B_W_1066166_67mm_106_Solid_Neutral.html

Price is $650 net to me (add 3% for PayPal) and I will cover UPS with tracking in the US.

I have two 77mm UV Filters for sale. I will pay USPS and PP fees.

B+W 77 010 UV - Haze 1x and Tiffen 77mm UV Protector $30 for both.
Glass looks clean on the B+W. The Tiffen as a tiny mark. No boxes but will be carefully wrapped and shipped.

Is anybody using GoodSync to backup external drives? And using Lightroom?

An excellent choice. It will take awhile (depending on your upload speed) to “seed” the cloud, but once done, updates, which consist of changes and new files, will be much shorter. You can sleep easier knowing that your data is safe.

Trix....when backing up to Amazon...are files that you delete in your workflow (that you previously loaded to Amazon) deleted on your Amazon copy?

This is amazing! I had a chance to photograph them at a Bison kill a few winters back. At that time, there were more than the 16 or 17 I counted in this video. I made a short video of them howling as they rounded up to leave. What an experience!!!

There's a lot of stuff that can build up in your \Lightroom folder, beyond the LRCAT file, such as backups, and image previews. I have 91,478 images this morning in an LR6 standalone catalog. All my images are on a USB-connected external drive 4TB HD and the LRCAT and stuff are on the computer's local drive. The local \Lightroom folder has 99,611 files taking 52.4 space, or potential 10% of your available SSD space.

Would you please list the various files that are under the catalog file and what each one does? I would not have thought to separate the LRCAT from everything else but it makes sense. I have kept everything on externals to date. Thanks!

But you have other large Kansas City Owls to photograph. Usual when it is more or less dark unless you find a nest. I've seen Great Horned and Barn Owls in CA where I live. You likely have similar. You have to follow the sound.

Yes, indeed we do have Great horned and Barred in abundance....its just those eyes and that face that the snowies have. Ok, you're right. I love all the owls!

This is gorgeous and well done! I sure wish we had those in our area. It's only 10.5 hours from Kansas City....hmmmmm.

Charlie...you mentioned issues with upgradability for the laptop....would a desktop work for you or do you need to travel with it or don't have space for desktop. As Gene mentioned, a custom built unit can offer more options with the ability to upgrade in the future. I don't know what type of photography you do but as a wildlife photographer, I find the AI technology that Topaz uses essential for getting better noise reduction while not loosing sharpness. I think Photoshop has some newer stuff that is also AI and using a graphics card in a more demanding way as well. I looked at minimum spec requirements for PS and Topaz and then added a bit on the graphics card choice. This type of technology is memory and graphics processor hungry. As far as I can tell, it will continue to increase the demands on the system. I ended up building a desktop system that left all kinds of room to upgrade for this reason and couldn't be happier! Good luck with your decision.

I've owned the 810, which I replaced when I fell and it took a harder hit then my knee....which was pretty darn hard. I replaced it with another 850 as it was my back up camera. Being a bird nerd, I decided to sell one of them to buy a used D5 for low light and higher fps. I'd like to say I dont regret that but I dont use the D5 as often as the 850. I like the sharpness that the d850 with the 500mm pf offers over the D5!??! And the ability to crop with the 850 came in handy chasing warblers. My D500 sits in the cabinet most of the time. There is something special about the files from those 850s. This fall I used all three cameras during my landscape trips. My Tamron 24-70 stopped autofocusing just before a mostly shoot from a boat, handhold in the bayou. I had kept my 17-55 just in case, and used it on the D500 when I needed a 24-70 focal length. The 850 had the 70-200 and the d5 had the 500mm pf for the birds. So you never know what you might need...... and after all this, I would be mostly more confused. I'm sure you'll figure out what is best for you.

Why does she have to wait until you are gone? Flickr allows you to designate people who are family or friends and mark your photos so that they are downloadable by them but not publicly. (Anything that fits on a monitor can be downloaded with a screenshot by anyone so this comment is really limited to the high resolution images).

Last I checked, flickr has a free account that will hold something like 1000 photos. If you stop subscribing, your account reverts to the free one and will only hold 1000 images (don't know which 1000, the earliest or the latest).

The ultimate failure backup would be to send your images to your daughter now. Distribution is a valid backup option.
Why does she have to wait until you are gone? Flic... (show quote)

Points taken...we do enjoy looking at them together from my trips. And occasionally, others stop by. She didnt want a Lightroom situation to mess with should something happen to me. I do have over 2,000 images and yes, she knows this is a paid situation and one she can decide to keep or ditch. Maybe she will be ruthless and cull it down to a 1,000 for free. Or just let the whole thing go...ya never know what the future generations want to keep.....

I keep my LR catalog on externals and have 2 or 3 backups. At this point, I have one that has lasted 5 years. The others failed in the range of 2 to 4 years. A few months back I had 2 fail in a week. This prompted the extra backup. Ive' used WD and Seagate. My images on Flikr are what my daughter said she would like to have when I am gone. I guess that is the ultimate failure backup.
