Nice, I enjoy trying to capture shots of our hummingbirds.

They are brazen. They'll hover in front of the kitchen bay window and stare me down if the feeder needs refilling.

The little Ruby-throats are starting to return to the garden. The female is extremely territorial, so I'm surprised she let the male stick around.

Awesome shots! I have the D500 and am wondering what lens to pair it with. It seems this might be the one. Thanks for sharing.

It's tough handheld, but pretty easy to handle on a tripod or monopod. Thanks for looking!

I have a Tamron 10-24 I usually use on my D5100 - Just ordered this 11-16 Tokina to (usually use) on the D3200 - If you have this glass let me know what you think of it - Feel free to post sample images taken with the lens if you like.

Cheers!

I have the DXI version of this lens (I don't have need of a focusing motor in the lens). It's performed well from what I've used, but I do not use it a lot.

A another shot of Chrissy

Very nice, and beautifully posed and shot; but, I think it would be even better without the vignetting.

Makes me think of Virginia Woolf, who killed herself by walking into a lake. In this shot, she is looking back, wondering if this was the right choice.

What would even be the purpose of dying it?

Hummingbirds have no sense of smell, so they are attracted to flowers by color. That's why feeders tend to be red--their preferred color. The food coloring is bad for them, from what I read on some ornithology sites.

Do not dye. Not good for the birds.

If I may; all this back and forth about how she is a problem as a model or not is silly. I think the photography itself could use minor improvement which I would hope is why we are all here. The model cannot EVER be blamed for a photograph. It is the photographer's job to do one (not necessarily all) of these things:
- make a statement
- convey a feeling
- display beauty
- understand a situation

In this image, I think the photographer has done that.

If I were to critique, I'd merely change some posing and probably crop differently.

Was your model happy? This is important.

best,
