I did some research and that model is not compatible with the D7100. You need the DC-2 model.

Does it say DC-1 or DC-2 on the package? You need DC-2.

If it's like my D5200, it's an infrared sensor. Mine has one on the front and one on the back and the range is about 12 to 15 feet. Go to the Nikon website and get a copy of the PDF manual, I carry one around on my smartphone, very handy.

Ugh, I dislike the IR remotes. Do you have as much trouble as I do trying to get line of sight around a big lens?

If I were to guess the receiver will connect to the bottom accessory port on the side of the camera. Not USB, may be labeled GPS.
It's easy to hook it up backwards and damage your camera. If they made the plug like other Nikon and off brands I use there will be a triangle stamped into one side of the plug, this points towards the lens.

I'm assuming you have a display with 1920x1080 resolution. If you want to avoid having black bars on the sides you can lock your crop ratio to 16x9 (in photoshop etc) and crop what you would like. If the image you want to use has <1920 vertical lines of resolution you should see no degradation on your wallpaper.

Computer scientists have developed prototype 3D manipulation software that you can download right now and play around with. It's only available for OS X so I'm bummed about that. Check out the videos in the link to see how it works.
If anyone with OS X plays around with this please post the results!

Here is the link to the Amazon App Store:

For those that may not know, the Amazon App Store is a 3rd party app from Amazon that needs to be downloaded from their website. It is similar to the Google Play Store but is separate from it.
To install the Amazon App Store and any apps downloaded from it you will need to enable a setting in your phone/tablet.
Settings > Security > Unknown Sources (check this box)

I usually enable this setting only to install an app I want from Amazon then disable it after the installation is complete.

The cool thing about the Amazon App store is the home page has a Free App of the Day that changes daily. Sometimes they are really great apps yet sometimes they are junk.

Jim, I found it no problem at all, Dl'ed and installed.
The only item I can open is "Basic Interactions".
Even from the start button there is only very limited "stuff" available, before I get the message that something needs to be unlocked - for which you then have to pay the $3.50

Did you download it from the Amazon App Store - Free App of the Day or from the Google Play store?

Today (Nov5) on the Amazon App Store (Android) you can get decent photography app for Free, normally it's $3.50.

It's called Elements of Photography, I have downloaded it and went through all of the tutorials and reference tables. It is very comprehensive covering everything from the focal length to flash photography. I think it would be a great app for the beginner photographer who would like all of the pertinent information of photography in very concise and easy to read tutorials. Even amateurs and pros may like it even it's just for the 3 reference tables it has; DOF Calculator, EV Tables, and Stop Tables.
I did have trouble with the dropdown menu appearing to select my sensor (for the DoF Calculator) but I restarted the app and it worked. A little buggy but I think the information you can get for free is worth it.

The permissions listed on the App Store are not the same as the installed permissions, it could be a typo on Amazon's part. The installed permissions are:

Storage: Write to SD Card
Storage: Read SD Card
Network: Create Network Sockets
Network: Google Play purchase and license check.

I suppose more light can be used on darker clothes in order to reduce the contrast instead of changing the outfit altogether.

High key doesn't necessarily mean wearing all white. You can take photos of African American people in dark clothes, and still be high key. Cliff had a great example in another thread. I'm not at a place to look it up, but if I get a chance, I'll link to that thread. *(can't multitask on my ancient android)

I simply said that my eyes were drawn towards the jeans. I did not say it was incorrect.

Very nice first attempt. Good pose and expression on the model. I would suggest trying a full white or closer to white wardrobe. To me the blue jeans draw my eyes away from her face and almost makes it seem like her head is floating above them. That's just my opinion of course.
I'm curious, what kind of lighting setup do you have?

I would try using another program to view the files. ViewNX 2 from Nikon is free and will allow you to convert them to JPG. I would start with that program to see if they open correctly. Any changes to a RAW/NEF file from one program won't be seen by another program. Because of this you can determine if the files are corrupted or not.
If the black curtains show up in ViewNX 2 then I'm at a loss, perhaps someone else may have a method of recovery.
Also I assume you didn't somehow shoot those photos at fast shutter speeds without HSS.
