Not only is Helen a great Ambassador of Ugly Hedgehog Good Will... she is a nice person!

Adorama is lucky to have her and I’m sure B&H would snap her up given a chance. She helped me resolve a problem several years ago and every time I hang that lens, Helen gets a tip of my hat 🎩 .

Nikon does seem to offer more hoods in the box than Canon but if you look at Nikon prices they are not free that hood is added to the price.
BTW what is the problem. If you want a hood order it with the lens if not then you don't have to get it.
You are given options and not forced to get extra you perhaps do not want.
But you should be old enough to figure out if you want a hood or not.

Being one of the Canon users I will second the Canon 80D. Right now it is on sale for $1099 with an 18-135 USM lens. The 80D has a 24mp sensor and a very good auto focus system that will focus at f/8 on up to 27 focus points depending on the lens. (most cameras only focus with f/5.6 lenses or faster) The body alone is $799 direct from Canon refurbished and the lens is $431.95 if bought by itself so the kit is about $130 less than getting them separately.

So the 80D would be $500 less than the D7500 and that money could go to getting other gear/lenses.

Canon refurbished come with the same warranty as Canon new. I and a lot on the UHH buy from them on a regular basis. My wife's camera came from Canon refurbished and has worked flawlessly for almost two years now.

Whatever you end up getting it is almost impossible to get a bad camera from any of the major companies today. Their worst models would have had pros crying with joy about 5-7 years or so ago.

So get a camera and some lenses then learn and enjoy.
Being one of the Canon users I will second the Can... (show quote)

Refurbished is the way to go at Canon, also remember the lenses are warranty for 1 year.

Are you shooting RAW or JPEG? If I was to take a shot in the dark, I'd say you shot JPEG in the morning and RAW in the afternoon and do not have a RAW file conversion on your PC.

Dear fellow HOG’s,
I would like to call your attention to the excellent advice and service that I received from one of our members whose call name is “Blurryeyed.”
I bought a Vintage lens from “Blurryeyed” and the condition of the lens was so clean and sharp when I received it that I thought it was a new lens.
It is nice to deal with an honest and responsible person.
Phil

I'd also purchased several lenses from "Blurreyed" and he was honest and gave some great advice !
