I used to fly for BlueIslands..I now do the Jersey Air Ambulance

I am looking for opinions on different 'shirt pocket ' or a little larger 'super zooms' or compact lens system cameras.

I fly every day for work and want something to slip in the flight bag. The Leica M9 is the dream..but that is all it will ever be. Just bought the EOS 5DIII and a rack of L series lenses, so no more big spends!!
I do sometimes take the 5DII , but can't carry it and lenses in the cockpit.

So here is what I want:

Small compact..

RAW images

Full manual control
AV
Tv
Bulb
Tripod fitting
Remote (both wired and wireless nice). ( so I can use Intervalometer)

Fixed 'built in zoom' or Lens system.
Canon EOS M mirror-less would be too big.

Living on a small island ( Jersey) I have one store I can look in and they have a small range of cameras to look at.

Online research can play a part but just not as useful as searching in shop.

No, files them selves are fine..data card is fine. it was the render images

I managed to find the answer (I think) this morning.


If you right click the file and show in Finder and view in preview or another application it is fine..so I started wondering about previews.

I am not at the machine now (at farm workshop) but somewhere in the menu system under either File Edit Photo or Library menus there are three Preview / Render 1:1 render image options.
Working from memory now, but first I tried jsutdeleting the render previews. thinking it would re build them..but no good. made no difference. I tried the rebuild or re-render option and that worked..sorted thumbnails and main images.

Hey dirtpusher..what is that on your Avatar? a home built ?

I tend to have all my (hopefully) regular e-mails auto sorted by sender into individual into folders, so deleting e-mails is never an issue.

As I said earlier, I had marked nothing as SPAM, that happened at the hosting mail server before I had a chance to mark manually. It was out of my control. It was actually a mail content comparision filter that the hosting software filter system used that must have been bouncing them.

Only time will tell if this was the issue.

Definetly think it was the mail system from that particular e-mail account. I'll check and see if that is the ssme account I have registered on the forum

But you could be correct.

I had an issueclike that a few weeks back. It was not a user setting on the mail client sending mails to junk or spam but it was a setting that I had to get the e-mail hosting service to fix.
They had a white/grey/black list system of spam filtering in place that the user could not change, or was even aware of when checking the ' WebmailCentral' control panel part of the web interface. I had to phone them and tell them the issue.
My girlfriend regularly send electronic greeting cards from online service, and none of them ever get through on that one particular e-mail account, but if she sent to gmail acc they arrived instantly.

They changed that filtering system for me last week.

I'll see now if I get my Notification Info settings reset this time.

I have subscribed threads, and in the User Control Panel I have checked the boxes for Notification Information , and for a day or two it works and I get e-mail notification of thread replies.

Then the e-mails stop

If I go and check the subscribed threads, I have had replies, but no e-mail.

Go to the control panel, and the Notification Info boxes have become un checked.

This has happened multiple times now, so I now know it is not me. I gave gone to the control panel multiple times now and re checked the bloody boxes, but give it a few days and they un check themselves.

Any other settings I have missed?

Not a graphics card issue, other folders come up correctly, just the one folder.

Just d/loaded some raw images from camera to Lightroom.
JPEGS on one card (SD) RAW to the CF card.

All JPEG thumbnails and main images OK in lightroom.

4 or 5 RAW images are OK..the rest are scrambled...until you go to the Develop screen in Lightroom and then the thumbnail and main image appear correctly.
leave that image and go to the next image..and the scrambled thumbnail re appears.

Some raw images OK


Some raw images OK


Open in Develop, and initially both scrambled


Then they update and are correct


Go to next image and the last images thumbnail goes scrambled again


Look in Library and the same ones are all scrambled again

I assume you are meaning the "Photo Gallery" sub forum on this site?

I have gone to that link and can't see a "Show Your pics " Link

It could be a cache issue, one device has a more recent or older cached copy of the website. Try deleting cache data from both browsers and re loading the pages.

I have noticed that on the Mac when using Safari, clicking the reload circular arrow button in the address bar does not always re load the web site. Try hitting "CMD" and "R" buttons on the mac keyboard
