Sorry to take so long to reply. I have not put any shots from this camera on my computer yet, I wanted to get a good variety to compare. From what I can tell so far, it is nice and easy to use, the small size is hard to get used to. From what I have seen on the screen the zoom is not that great, but you have 20 mega pixels to play with. It depends on what he wants to use it for, but it is fun and easy. I may send results when I get any!

Wendy

Well here we were shopping in one of those huge big box shopping emporiums that sell everything and are out to make you buy things you do not need. Well I did.
They had a display of these cute and adorable little purple Nikon Coolpix S3500, so what did I do? Put it in my cart and bought it. OK now you can all laugh, my husband did. But my justifiction is that I carry a small purse. I do not like taking cell phone pictures unless necessary. I used to have a smallish Canon that was too big to carry, so this cute little purple camera slides nicely in my bag is smaller than my phone and is pretty. I have not had it long enough to really do much with it except to try to get cats and dogs and butterflies to stay in one place. Comments welcome.

I am a puppy raiser for The Guide Dog Foundation for The Blind in NY. Our pups arrive by US Airways. I take pictures of the arrival boards, the plane arriving, the volunteer who brings the pup. Also when the pups go back as adult dogs I do the same thing. Why? So the blind person who receives the pup will have memories of the dog that they get. I have used cell phones and 'real cameras' at Orlando Airport the arrivals gate is next to security and I have never had a problem.

I am slowly with great frustration working this program. It is such a time waster. I find something I want then it goes away and I can't find it again. I am using it mostly for email, hoping my other computer will live longer and not decide to retire just yet.

Hello all,
Two of my older computers that I had loaded an old version of Photo Shop 7 and was using daily have decided it is time to retire. One has been in retirement for a long time. The laptop I have been using is fading away. So I have now been forced to use this laptop I bought 'just in case' and it has Windows 8 that does not thrill me at all, but there it is.
Does anyone have a clue what might happen if I try to load my old PS 7 version on to this computer. I suppose the worst is that it would not work, and the disc would self destruct if it has not already.
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks,
Wendy

THANK YOU ALL!
After 14 hours today the files I had backed up on my second oldest Seagate have been transferred to my new little (it is small in size)external drive. I am so thankful I did back up as much as I did to this drive. I may have lost some recent files but nothing that I really remember - yet. There are some more files to clean up off the laptop and my geriatric tower but I am thankful to have what I have. Now to purchase another external drive so as not to have a day like yesterday. I will freeze the old one, nothing to lose now but will leave it until I have more time. I did notice a plastic seal on on the top of it I maybe should have removed a few years ago, did it overheat? What ever. You think you have had a bad day until you hear about those firefighters who lost their lives. It gives you a slap in the face somewhat when you realize you still have a husband and be thankful for that. If the pictures were gone then it was my fault.
Take care everyone.

Thanks Bryan, yes I have learned a lesson. Once I have everything on this new drive, when funds allow I will get another one and repeat the process. Freezing the drive.........I have nothing to lose, move over frozen pizza and left overs!

Good Morning all and thank you for your advice and helpful comments. I suppose I thought all was OK, files once a month transfered to an external drive. OK, there is much data with my many lifestyle involvments, BUT the pictures, OK I am not a great photographer but it is a love of my life, like my dogs and husband, the thought that my pictures and treasured memories of our life are gone. A horrible feeling. So once I am fully awake I will begin to transfer what I have to my new little (bigger) Toshiba drive. I have been told that plugging in the two drives to my computer at the same time is possible to transfer the data that way? Time to unearth my new laptop that I do not use because of Windows 8. Time to get to learn how to deal with that.
So as always thanks for being there.
Kind Regards,
Wendy

Hello again and thanks to all that have helped my sanity today!
I bought a new 1tb external drive today and a usb port that can plug in four things at a time.
The god of hard drives was with me...........I checked on my next oldest drive and discovered that I had transferred a lot of files and years that I did not not remember doing - phew!!
So the next question if you do not mind.
The usb thingy can plug in four things at a time. It would seem I can transfer from my working old seagate drive directly to something else. I plugged in a stick drive to experiment and it went right from old external drive via the computer to stick drive. WOW. My question is, if I plug in my new drive and my old working seagate can I do the same thing, just copy the files onto the new hard drive that is much bigger?
Thanks as always for being there.

Probably a dumb question, but what difference is there between a large capacity 'stick/thumb drive' to a external back up like the Seagate?
Thanks again,
Wendy

No, sadly as this computer is getting old and starting to have 'issues' I thought it would be a good idea to clean as much off it as I could.................

Windows 7 on a 4 year old Toshiba laptop. I was going to take it to office Depot to see if they could do anything.
THis is my back up, I don't back up my back up............
