Hello all,
Two of my older computers that I had loaded an old version of Photo Shop 7 and was using daily have decided it is time to retire. One has been in retirement for a long time. The laptop I have been using is fading away. So I have now been forced to use this laptop I bought 'just in case' and it has Windows 8 that does not thrill me at all, but there it is.
Does anyone have a clue what might happen if I try to load my old PS 7 version on to this computer. I suppose the worst is that it would not work, and the disc would self destruct if it has not already.
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks,
Wendy

It won't work, I have tried it.
There is a great free download for Windows 8 that gives you your start button back, same as with Windows 7. I hated 8 until I downloaded this program and now I actually like it, I even upgraded my Windows 7, 64 bit laptop to Windows 8 and the Classic Shell download.

In fact if you go into compatibility settings you can make most old software run
Oh Wow, can some-one let me know exactly how to do this?
Thanks,

It's easy, install the program, right click the icon,
Click on properties
Click on compatibility
Can't be easier
Sometimes an old program will not in fact "load" onto the PC, or setup will not run.
Just make a folder called temp on the desktop, copy the entire CD/DVD content to the folder and do the same with the setup icon.
Been doing this for years, I still run batch files and DOS programs

I tried it.......................... for a week Die 8 die
I am slowly with great frustration working this program. It is such a time waster. I find something I want then it goes away and I can't find it again. I am using it mostly for email, hoping my other computer will live longer and not decide to retire just yet.

I understand that Microsoft is going to stop supporting XP in the near future. Permit me to suggest that they abandon 8 completely, and continue to support XP! This would be much more customer friendly!
