[quote=EricLPT]I can't help you on your current problem but in the future shoot highest quality jpeg. I am not trying to start a flame war but in my personal opinion the advantages or RAW are overstated for the average user and are far outweighed by the negatives of larger file size and increased post processing time and effort.
In this case I think you would agree. Shooting RAW+jpeg in the future might help too
Not to fan the flames, but I don't understand the reluctance/difficulty with RAW files. You retain all the original information and have complete control over the file. Storage peripherals are inexpensive so your files can be stored/ duplicated cheaply. A non-destructive editor such as Lightroom makes importation and basic editing simple. Also, you never know when the shot of a lifetime might happen. Hate that it would be a JPEG.
A RAW file is your best option.
Depending on your budget, The 5d m2 will be replaced soon and discounts are out there. Going full-frame with increased sensor performance makes this discounted model a great buy. Chances are the replacement will be a nice up-grade in performance and cost.
HDR doesn't have to move towards the garish It's best use, for my purposes, is replicating tonal range closer to our own vision.
Any advice on how to save an image to desktop/folder in an "open" state? meaning the image is visible and not just a file name. Using mac -cs4-Lr.
Problem occurs when loading images-either tiff or jpeg- for a digital photo frame( sony dpf-xr100}.It will not 'open' or display a #file only those that were saved with the image visible.Currently I am processing them as a "save as" in PS which is slow. Thanks for any assistance
For digital it's PP either way after the shutter clicks . It's in the camera or in the computer. It 's a matter of degree and control.
Lightroom 3 will enable better file organization and editing than i photo. There are many helpful publications for this app. Always use RAW. Elements is a great introduction to PS at a very reasonable price.
