saving an "open" image

Any advice on how to save an image to desktop/folder in an "open" state? meaning the image is visible and not just a file name. Using mac -cs4-Lr.
Problem occurs when loading images-either tiff or jpeg- for a digital photo frame( sony dpf-xr100}.It will not 'open' or display a #file only those that were saved with the image visible.Currently I am processing them as a "save as" in PS which is slow. Thanks for any assistance
