After reading the recent messages about the advantages of attaching a sling type strap to the tripod mount of a camera as opposed to one of the normal strap attachment points I looked into the Op/Tech system to replace my Blackrapid R7. From what I can tell the Op/Tech system doesn't provide storage space in the strap itself which I really like about the R7. My solution is to order the shortest Op/Tech connectors and add them to the R7. This leaves the camera hanging a bit lower than I might like, but I believe the strap length can be adjusted with time.
I also experimented with using the right and left strap mounts on the camera. I found that I like using the left mount best. This way as I raise my hand it naturally goes to the camera grip and the connector is away from camera controls.
I hope this may spark some other ideas and suggestions.

I used a Blackrapid R7 for several months and went back to the more customary neck strap. With the sling strap, I was constantly banging my camera on things.
