I have used the program and find it to be very good for what it does. There is a little known setting as well that I will share, but because I am at work I am only hoping I am steering you right. Have you ever wanted to just work on skin and forgo the face details? Well you can, although you have to make a slight setting adjustment first.

Go to the settings and check off the "Show Enhance Skin Only" button under the General tab ;)

True the processor is the key factor but we need to consider the Video Card also...you will need at least 256mb, I currently use a 1gb video card.

The first photo is with natural light coming through the windows off to the left, the second is the first shot taken with my new ring light.

Notice how your natural side-light photo looks 3-D, but the ringlight looks flat. This is a typical characteristic of a true ringlight. Try taping about 1/3 of your ringlight, so you have uneven light. See if this restores some depth to your image, by introducing a bit of shadow.

Thank you for the advice. This light has the ability to turn off half of the light either right or left and I guess I could rotate it to get the best effect.

I have ... pretty easy to use ... just one word of caution, let it "fix" one thing at a time, and dont make too many rapid edits, or it will crash on you. I'm running Windows Vista with 4gb ram and a terabyte of hard drive space. Pretty average for speed and working room, and it still crashes on me if I go too fast. Here's a before and after pic of my sister. See the dramatic results in the after, but still shows good detail. (see the fine peach fuzz on her cheek?)

I don't know much about the program but I know Windows and the amount of Ram on your computer is most likely the impetus behind the crashing. You should have at least 6 gb of ram in Vista to run a graphics program without incident regardless of what the software maker is telling you. The reason is that there are many operations running in the background using parts of the memory.

Do you want to start taking video? If so you will need a new body.

I have a new Canon T3i with a 18-55mm and 55-250mm kit lens set. I can't afford more now. I want to know what to expect as the BEST POSSIBLE SEMI-MACRO photos I can get with the 18-55mm and under what conditions. I would like to photograph some rare coins and small insects to use as flyTying models. Please help me. NOVICE DSLR user. Happy NewYear.

I sell used watch movements taken from Luxury Gold watches that have been scrapped. This requires detailed images so potential customers can see the exact condition...not unlike your coins.

These were taken with a T2i and kit lens. Camera directly overhead. Items placed on a light box (slide viewer type) that is inside a white enclosure (Best Light Studio). Camera on a tripod. I scoot the studio box off the edge of the table so the camera on its pistol grip can be directly over the subject. (Spot metering is a must.)

I use the EOS utilities program to fire the camera from the computer. This allows me to preview using live view on the monitor before I fire. The program allows custom white balance by sample using an eyedropper tool. Exposures are adjusted in Photoshop or Elements and rotated if necessary. Once set up for the day, I usually take about 100-150 photos per session. It is quick and easy and the photos are filed directly on the computer without using a memory card.

This is a straight forward shot. The background is the light box.

This is at an angle as there are hands on the back side making it lean to one side.

Tripod a must and a fisheye 8mm, I use a 15-85 and supplement with the fisheye.

she doesn't have a fish eye so why advise she take one?

Because Krashzmom asked for any lens that would be good to have. So RixPix suggested a Fisheye! just as Hoss suggested the 24-105 L with IS or the 24-70 2.8 L non IS.

oh silly me well in that case I suggest you take a lens baby

Lensbaby...I have seen those online but never used one. It is my understanding that they are similar to a fisheye, yes?

I'm going to Vegas in a few months and I really want to take some good photos of all the cool art, lights, etc. I've gotten some in past trips with my p&s but am excited about using my rebel. Is there any particular lens you guys would suggest that would be good to have. I have a zoom lense and the regular lens and that's it. I have a Canon Rebel t3i and haven't had much time lately trying to learn about it, but will before the trip. Any advice?

That's sad to need ANOTHER lens, because that Pana ZS3 took "tack sharp" photos! :(

I am guessing that this is the first interchangeable lens camera you have owned. The purpose of being able to change the lens is so you can select the lens that matches the subject matter. A macro lens for one subject a telephoto for the another. The objective is obtain the best possible image.

The T3i is a very nice camera, the kit lens is only a so-so lens as it is built to be inexpensive so as to keep the total package price down. By adding extra glass to the front of the lens you are further limiting and distorting the light passing through the lens.

If your main objective is to shoot macro shots then a specialized lens and even specialized lighting is needed.

I have both the standard lens and a set of 4 screw-on Vivitar Series 1 close up lenses. I was using the 4x one part of the time and the standard one part of the time.

Several years ago when I got my T1i I attempted to take macro photos using the same method you are trying now. I was never happy with the images. Strapped for cash at the time I bought a Canon EF 50mm f2.5 Macro lens and then later found the life size converter for it. The macro photos I get are much better. You need to get a real macro lens. The Canon is older and slow to focus but can be had new for around $250

I have used the Kenko tubes on both a 50mm f1.8 Canon and the 85mm 1.8 Canon. No problems at all.

This camera and lens looks to be in good shape with no wear to the finish. It has obviously seen very little use. The lens is clean and the diaphragm is snappy. When test against my T2i meter the exposure is dead on. The fabric shutter is in excellent condition. Overall a great film camera. The only issue I can find is some dust in the viewfinder and on the focusing screen. I will ship this to any US address for Free upon receipt of cleared payment. If you live outside the US I will accept PayPal payment only and you will pay $30 for Priority Mail International.

Price: $120.00 SOLD
