Pictures that I had trouble with in the snow. This is embarrassing, but what can I do? This is where I am at with this. I am the one that sent you the private message.

Thank-you! That gives me a place to start. I have been reading my manual, and a field guide that I bought for the camera, but it is quite a bit of information at first, and it is helpful to have a place to start.

Thank-you for the welcome. I have a question on the Canon Rebel xti that I have. I am reading the owners manual, but I just wish I knew where to start taking pictures outside of the auto mode. Should I start with the the P, M, the Tv, the Av, or the A-DEP? Would anyone be willing to give me a specific assignment with specific settings, so I could go try it and possibly be successful. I feel sort of overwhelmed by all the different things you have to consider when the camera isn't doing it for you in auto. Also, can I damage the lens if I don't have that Af- mf button pushed to the right settting?

Love the photo, Optiem. You captured a nice moment, and I like the way his dark whiskers pop out. He just needs a name..or is it a she? I guess I just didn't know that if I didn't post my location that the website would say I am in hiding. But I guess you could still say I'm in hiding since no one knows what I look like. ;-)

Ok Ken, I did 2 embarrassing things right off the bat. My pictures are huge, and for some reason unknown to me, my location says I am in hiding.

Hey Ken, I am new here too, so I will go first. I haven't posted anything yet either. These pictures were taken with my Olympus TG1. The TG1 has some macro settings and you can set the exposure and shutter speed manually, so I was messing with that when I took these pictures. I am still reading the manual for my Canon Rebel XTI. As soon as I get it figured out I will post a picture from that camera. Remember, this is supposed to be fun! :D

I have been using my point and shoot since the beginning of last summer because I am still trying to figure out the settings of my Canon Rebel XTI. I had a little Samsung, and now I also have an Olympus TG1 that has been teaching me the meaning of some terms such as iso and macro. I bought a field guide for the Rebel, so hopefully that will help. But I am curious....what IS wrong with Canon? I was reading the last blog. And also what do you mean when you talk about wide frame?
