The fires did not penetrate into Yosemite valley, so everthing is good. Glacier Point is open. Quickly, you need to check reservations, because last minute (April is last minute) you may be stuck with unheated tents in Curry Village. Look at availability in Coarsegold as an alternative.
Thanks rgrenaderphoto, I will check out the "Coarsegold" suggestion. I realize I might be a little late with the reservations, and that is why I was considering next year as an alternate.
I live within an hour of the South entrance into Yosemite. The fires affected some of the areas along the main highways leading into the park, as well as areas inside the park at higher elevations. (Along Highway 140 and Highway 41) Most of the well known and commonly visited areas in the park, including Yosemite Valley were untouched.
Thanks for the information, I had used Google Earth and could not really tell much. This helps.
I was in the park last August after the fires and its fine. Took some nice pictures outside the park of the burn area. Great contrast to the lush valley floor and the Merced ought to be roaring. Bring a ND and polarizing filter.

My understanding is that Yosemite was closed because the approach roads were threatened by fire, and because of the health hazards posed by the thick smoke. The fires did not reach Yosemite Valley.
I am in the process of planning my first Photography trip to Yosemite in mid April 2019 and would like to know if I should wait another year to visit. Not interested in photographing a burned up forest full of charcoal tree stumps/etc. Any information/comments will be most appreciated. Roger
"Pocket Light Meter" App on my iPhone is listed at $10.99!! Not free for sure. Although the cost is not prohibitive, it might be worth looking into. Interesting to say the least.
I found a Burke and James “Watson” - Five by Seven inch - Field View camera at a local antique mall, after a friend told me about it, for fifty dollars. After looking it over, I made the quick decision to buy it, remove the paint, and rebuild to restore to a working condition. Already having a lens with a pneumatic operated shutter (In case this lens, shown, will not work). I knew that it would not only be workable, but also practical for the design.
While I awaited the arrival of the Bellows from an overseas Bellows Maker - I made used that time to build a carrying box for the camera.
(Thus = This became my “Winter Project” for 2018.)
Here are a few photos of the progress of the endeavor.

Awesome James, and incredible patience!! Have you taken any images with it as yet?
I'm working on implementing a new format for the digest.
The old one will remain, but in addition to that we'll have the expanded format. It's basically a list of intro posts for each topic, one after another.
The new format is for people who prefer to scroll rather than scan headlines.
I have On1 2018.5 and have barely bagan learning and applying edits when 2019vs came out. Been on the fence getting the update. But with so much positive feedback, I'm getting it.
You will not regret it, the updates are awesome. I have both and went for the On1 Photo Raw 2019 and it was a free upgrade for me.
Hello guys I need your help again. But a little intro first:
Last month I started to be more active on Instagram (@armandoluizphotos) and I also have made a website (armandoluiz.com).
People has been showing interest on my hobby as an amateur photographer, so I've ordered some calenders and I sold about 25 this month. Some of those who bought calendar wanted some print as well, so I ordered some prints over board foam, aluminum and acrylic, all of them are really nice until 50x70cm but at 60x80cm it starts to be less sharp.
Them I start to read about it in Internet and I still not sure about my problem. Some people said about crop the photo, some people say I need a full frame camera, etc.
I use Nikon D3400 so:
You might want to check your spelling of December on your 2019 Calendar!
You might want to check your spelling of December 2019 on the calendar!
1- Why I can't print bigger than 50x70cm?
2 - Am I doing something wrong?
3 - Do I need to move to full frame?
4 - If I need a full frame will be enough with a D600 or D610 or do I need something like D750/D800?
I also would like to say that I don't want to buy another camera, I bought my D3400 in February and I really like it, I just want to get bigger prints.
Thank you all in advance
